With the exception of a wee bit of WP:SYN, no secondary references for what is essentially part of an advertising brochure. Anything encyclopedic here can costlessly be in the Duke University article. THF (talk) 03:12, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete directory, thoroughly unencyclopedic. JJL (talk) 03:21, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep, and then consider whether to Merge back. The list of majors is considered appropriate content in the article on a college--and whether to list it separately is a decision on style. It was previously split, and afd is not for considering the merits of such editing decisions. I am not sure whether it should be separate, but this is not the place to discuss it. - Redirect to Duke_University#Undergraduate. My rationale is basically the same as my !vote at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Degree Programs at Ohio Wesleyan University. Baileypalblue (talk) 06:18, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I have started a discussion on the parent article talk page. Baileypalblue (talk) 06:26, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so consensus may be reached.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, MBisanz talk 00:01, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]- This AfD nomination was incomplete (missing step 3). It is listed now. DumbBOT (talk) 13:15, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per WP:IINFO and WP:NOTDIR. This level of detail is not appropriate for an encyclopedia - anyone interested can go from the Duke University article to their website, where the information is more likely to be kept up-to-date. JohnCD (talk) 16:40, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete Wikipedia isn't a college catalogue. This indiscriminate laundry list should be properly implemented as a couple sentences in the Duke article before its deleted. ThemFromSpace 18:07, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete They offer degrees at Duke University? When did they start doing that? I agree that this is WP:NOTDIR. Mandsford (talk) 18:07, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Since Mike Krzyzewski established the B.S. degree in basketball there. (If anyone knows of any other degrees offered at Duke, let me know.) I believe they also offer minors in
hooliganismlacrosse there if desired. MuZemike 19:36, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Merge - Degree programs at Boston College (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Degree programs at Boston College) and Degree programs at NUST (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Degree programs at NUST (2nd nomination)) both resulted in a merge. Also, Degree Programs at Ohio Wesleyan University and Degree programs at the University of Massachusetts Amherst both still exist and should be dealt with in the same manner. There should be a universal discussion regarding all these articles and a consistent decision. I just realized (mentioned above) that OWU also had a discussion, which resulted in no consensus, so it was kept. We need to deal with all these articles in the same manner. There shouldn't be separate discussion with differing results for each one. -Bluedog423Talk 14:52, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- The first AFD was closed as a merge but I think that closure was wrong. The second was not closed as merge but redirect. With that said, I agree that we should try a consistent approach to these types of articles and it seems that WP:UNI would be a good place to begin such a discussion. There must be flexibility in how we approach these articles but some more intentional consistency is also needed. --ElKevbo (talk) 15:17, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I agree discussion at WP:UNI could be useful, so I've started a new section at their talk page here. However, I'm not convinced that a uniform response is necessary; the decision on whether or not to merge will depend on the quality of both the main article and the sub-article proposed for deletion. Sometimes the material under consideration will fit quite nicely into the parent article, sometimes it will disrupt or overbalance it. This is an editorial decision usually best dealt with at the talk page of the parent article rather than at AfD. Baileypalblue (talk) 20:03, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete - This is not a catalog. KnightLago (talk) 20:26, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete Seems like an airtight case of WP:NOT. Per Bluedog423's concern, I agree that all such articles should be dealt with in exactly the same fashion: deleted. Madcoverboy (talk) 20:54, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - just a indiscriminate list of programs. Nothing notable about "Duke degree programs" as a topic. The individual schools, yes. This list, no. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jwilkinsen (talk • contribs) 21:40, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete and set strong precedent for similar articles. Indiscriminate list. Timrollpickering (talk) 02:12, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
