The prod was contested in December 2008. Encyclopedias are not for television schedules. Joe Chill (talk) 18:44, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep The Aussie TV schedule is from the past, and is not presented here as a substitute for TV Guide. It documents a highly notable aspect of television entertainment in a country. I expect that, as in my country, there was significant coverage of the network TV schedule in multiple reliable and independent sources there, satisfying notability. A schedule provides information not apparent in articles about the individual shows, such as what programming they were on against and what shows provided their lead-in to help deliver an audience. In fact, encyclopedias ARE for network television schedules, as has been shown by previous AFDs which have kept similar articles. Edison (talk) 19:28, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete: I agree encyclopedias are not for television schedules. - Ret.Prof (talk) 19:00, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Edison is absolutely right! - Ret.Prof (talk) 19:43, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Make that two agreements with Edison. Although some people can see no value in knowing what radio or television show was popular on a particular day of the week in the past, it's as much a part of a nation's culture as anything else. There's no denying that it's encyclopedic-- both of the reference works I've seen that attempted to list all television programs (Tim Marsh wrote one, the other was called Total Television) included, not surprisingly, an appendix where the schedules were listed. Mandsford (talk) 20:33, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Those would be called directories. Info about notable TV shows could be added to television, television series, or the show article itself. Joe Chill (talk) 20:39, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Response or exceptions to a definition of directories. WP:NOTDIR, section 4, words 32 through 58, "mention of major events, promotions or historically significant programme lists and schedules (such as the annual United States network television schedules) may be acceptable." Mandsford (talk) 22:22, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- You haven't explained how every TV schedule in every year in every country is historically significant. Joe Chill (talk) 00:21, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Nor do I need to. When WP:N includes the phrase "such as the annual US TV schedules" along with the descriptor "historically significant", my personal opinion doesn't matter. Mandsford (talk) 12:41, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep per Edison and my comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of United States network television schedules, see no reason why Australia would be any different. BryanG (talk) 21:12, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: If television schedules are so important why not create television schedule instead of making a directory of old TV Guides? Even an old TV Guide has no historical significance. What you guys are saying is that old TV Guides from 2008 and below are historically significant without explaining how it is. Whenever anyone posts links, it always shows notability for television and not the individual old TV Guides. Joe Chill (talk) 00:29, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Husband: I'm going to throw away last years TV Guide.
- Wife: Don't! Copy it onto Wikipedia!
- Husband: Why?
- Wife: The TV Guide is historically significant now that it's a year after.
- Husband: Okay. I'll type this up on Wikipedia.
- Wife: Get my mom's old TV Guides from the attic and type those up also! Joe Chill (talk) 00:56, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep per arguments I and others gave at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of United States network television schedules. Zagalejo^^^ 00:17, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
