Shortcuts
Please review the AWB guide before making a request. Users are rarely approved unless they have either 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits. You can check your non-automated contributions on XTools. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to request access. For bots, you must first have a bot approval request approved, or in trial; link to your BRFA in the request.
This page is for requesting AWB Access for English Wikipedia only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.
If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for that purpose; first create the account, give it a userpage declaring it to be your alternate account, then make the request using your main account.
Please note that administrators may not ping you in replies, so please check on your request if you have not heard anything.
Especially for new users, it is helpful (although not strictly required) to explain what specific task you intend to use AWB to do in your request.

Hi. I intend to use AWB to assist with repetitive but useful maintenance tasks such as fixing common formatting issues, updating templates, correcting typos, and performing category cleanups. Similarly, I have also reviewed the guidelines and will ensure all edits follow Wikipedia policies. I am also familiar with Wikipedia editing conventions and have made constructive edits. Hi @Pppery, Well, You're right to ask. I understand concerns about hat collecting. I had requested these permissions because I have specific or immediate plans to use each permission that I have in more frequently, policy based and in constructive manner. If you'd like, I can explain how I intend to apply each permission in current areas where I'm active. Please provide a specific example of a series of edits you would make using AWB if you had rights (doesn't need to be especially large, think ~5 pages). I looked through your contributions and didn't see any such series. * Pppery * it has begun... 19:16, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If I got the permission to use AWB then initially, I would like to fix clean-up, formatting, Link fixing and typo fixing. As you asked above in your reply, below is the list of some articles that I intend to run AWB.

I have made edits manually and provided a diff below. These all edits are related to typos and grammatical correction. Please have a look.

Those don't look like the sort of changes AWB can be used to make. AWB does have a regex-based typo fixing tool, but those aren't the sort of typos it fixes but instead grammar changes requiring human judgement. And one of them is done with another script, which makes even less sense to showcase as something you would use AWB to do. That, and the fact that you only used rollback twice shortly after I granted it too weeks ago and never again, has finally failed to convince me you are qualified for AWB:  Not done * Pppery * it has begun... 18:56, 26 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
