Hi I think I messaged you a couple years ago. Could we update articles with more information and mug shots / profile pictures. Information such as Mafia initiation ceremony dates, and I have a source/page on Facebook with rare photos of certain gangsters.

We could begin with the Rizzuto family, a Mafia sweep actually happened on Thursday. I would like to add more sources and information on the Rizzuto family page, especially we could sort the information and put them into bullet points. What do you think?

@ThePlane11: Hello. Sounds good but make sure you follow manual of style and image copyrights. Usually images can only be put on monster pages once their dead or if you are the copyright holder. Most images aren’t free copyright. Most of the Canadian mob pages have images. I added some info to the Rizzuto page yesterday about the sweep, but feel free to add more sourced info but don’t go into intricate details as there is already a maintainance banner on the page due to this and could use trimming. What do you think about bullet pointing each murder, as it is an unorganised mess on the Rizzuto page? And yes images of guys like Joseph Bonanno months before he passed, coloured images of Vito Genovese, for example the Vito Genovese page has his picture, but it would be better if we could add the same picture but in colour. @ThePlane11: See MOS:BULLET. They should only really be used for lists. I’m all for cleaning up the Rizzuto family page. I added a new main picture on the Joseph Ligambi page could we crop it, as the picture shows a police officer to the left and Nicky Scarfo on the right? The current image on the Joey Merlino page is small and horrible image quality - Could we add a new photo of Merlino possibly there is a photo of him outside the court. @ThePlane11: Hi, not a good idea to use the Trump photo. You have to make sure you follow MOS:IMAGES. Many of them are copyrighted and cannot be used. If the person is deceased copyrighted images can be used in limited circumstances. It is best you ask on the talk page there what you can and can’t upload. I've added bio information at very top (can't remember the word for it) on Carmine Galante page and also the Bruno Indelicato page. Most of the photos were found on Facebook. @ThePlane11: no, that is not how derivative works work. Please read this licensing guideline (for photos on Commons) and this licensing guideline (for photos on English Wikipedia) before you upload photos. If you want to upload a photo onto Commons (where it can be viewed in full resolution, be used outside the English Wikipedia, etc.) you need to upload it to Commons, where it needs to be public domain. This page has a good summary.

Here are the main cases you can upload to Commons

• Mugshot was made by the federal government (NOT state in most cases) per {{PD-USGov}}
• Mughsot was published before 1989 in the US without copyright notice, and was not registered by the copyright office within 5 years ({{PD-US-1989}})
• Mugshot was published before 1978 in the US without copyright notice ({{PD-US-no-notice}})
• Mugshot was published before 1963 in the US without copyright renewal ({{PD-US-not-renewed}})
• Mugshot was made by the State of Calfornia government ({{PD-CAGov}}) or Florida government ({{PD-FLGov}})

There are more (ESPECIALLY if the mugshot was done abroad and not in the US), but these are the usual ones.

If you can't upload to Commons, you may be able to upload to the English Wikipedia per WP:FUW. However, you must meet the non-free content criteria, one of which is to "significally improve contextual understanding", so indiscriminate inclusion in a list would not count. Also, it can only be done if "no free equivalent is available, or could be created". However, this isn't that big of a deal - it's hard to get a photo of a mobster, and the community has recognised this, for example at Lucy Letby.
