If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
- Provide a new username.
To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 13:37, 25 May 2025 (UTC)Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Thorp Aircraft
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Thorp Aircraft, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. - Yes I own the company Thorp Aircraft. I am confused here though as there are many Aircraft company pages. Look at Vans Aircraft, Zenith Aircraft, and many others.
- How is what I was building (and not yet even submitted) a violation when theirs is not. Please help me to understand so that I can correct. Thorpaircraft (talk) 14:32, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- In your edit summary, you actually said "Created new page to highlight the Thorp Aircraft company in support of the Thorp T-18 page". What is this if not advertising?
- Please read the guidelines again. If you still feel you have grounds for appeal, follow the instructions in the post above from User:Jauerback. Deb (talk) 14:56, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Again I am just not understanding the reasoning behind there are hundreds of listings of aircraft manufacturers on Wikipedia List of aircraft manufacturers - Wikipedia yet we are somehow being called out as abusing the system by adding our aircraft company. A couple of our largest competitors Van's Aircraft - Wikipedia and Zenith Aircraft Company - Wikipedia go into details about their companies and provide links back to their corporate site.
- Is there a reason Thorp Aircraft, a company that is carrying on the legacy of a homebuilt aircraft that has been on the market since 1963 would be singled out? Thorpaircraft (talk) 15:02, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- By the way, I am unable to use the instructions above as my username was also blocked. It creates a loop of inability to do anything. Thorpaircraft (talk) 15:04, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

You have made a very serious accusation against your competitors in claiming that they have created articles or edited about themselves without disclosing their employment, which is a Terms of Use requirement(see WP:PAID, as well as WP:COI). If you have off-wiki evidence of your claims, please see WP:PAID for how you can provide that evidence privately. Otherwise, please withdraw the accusation.
Wikipedia articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject, who take note of coverage of a topic in independent reliable sources and choose on their own to write about it, summarizing those sources and showing how the topic is notable as Wikipedia uses the word, such as a notable company. Wikipedia isn't a place for companies to just tell about themselves, their activities, and offerings. Please see other stuff exists. That other articles exist does not mean that they meet current guidelines or have been checked by the community. There are many ways for inappropriate articles to exist, this cannot justify adding more. 331dot (talk) 16:27, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oh man, I cannot handle the Wikipedia police and the over reactions. I had never edited nor posted on Wikipedia before this morning however the editors and administrators, instead of attempting to work with people to resolve problems I have seen 4 of you now immediately go on the war path. Seems to me that it would have been better to start out with 'hey, you are not following the guidelines, and you may not understand why'. Maybe it is that I am 65 however I come from a time when we were more understanding, courteous, and helpful. Instead, my username and my IP address is now blocked, and it was without any warning.
- I understand however how the creditability of Wikipedia would be at question if companies used the sites as advertising. I have absolutely no idea who put up the pages of my competitors. I apologize for the appearance of my claiming someone in their organization had anything to do with their postings. I meant only to infer that the language in the pages is not any different than what I was trying to put up. I am going to abandon this project and this user account. I will ask some of the pilots and builders of the kit planes that get from us, or reporters in the aviation community, if they would consider putting up more information.
- As editors, administrators, and gatekeepers it would be really nice to have seen a much different approach. Maybe this is something you people have to fight every day, and I should be more understanding of the challenges you face. Thank you and have a good day.
- No further action is required on behalf of this account. Thorpaircraft (talk) 16:44, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Nowhere was I not courteous, nor am I the "Wikipedia police". I'm trying to help you understand our policies. However, since you no longer wish to be unblocked, I'll close your request. Good day. 331dot (talk) 18:04, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- And yes, I and others see dozens do what you attempted to do every day, sometimes every hour. We have a low tolerance of promotional editing, and rightfully so as this isn't a website for promotion. I'm not the police. I want to help you, but you would need to meet us halfway. 331dot (talk) 18:09, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ok. Can we try again. What does meeting me halfway entail? Since I am associated with the company should I find others that are willing to help with edits to input what they see in the correct information? Thorpaircraft (talk) 01:14, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- Your appeal is okay in terms of the new username you want to use. But you need to make it clear that you won't attempt to edit any articles where you have a conflict of interest. This means any articles about your own company and any articles about your competitors. If there is something you want included on, or removed from, a page where you have such a conflict of interest, you can go to the talk page for that article and make a request for a change. There is also Wikipedia:Requested articles.
- Incidentally, after you raised the matter of those two other articles, I checked them out and in one case I found some promotional content which I immediately removed. You can see this in the article history. Deb (talk) 15:26, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you. I had noticed the edits on Zenith Aircraft that you made.
- I am clear about this issue, and I will not attempt to edit any articles where I may or do have a conflict of interest. This means any articles about my own company and any articles about my competitors. If there is something I would like to have included on, or removed from, a page where I have such a conflict of interest, I will go to the talk page for that article and make a request for a change. Texaspilotguy (talk) 19:32, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- Please see the edit request process(which can be facilitated with the edit request wizard). Someone else will review your request. 331dot (talk) 21:39, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
