Colt/FYI

[edit]

I saw this edit and I agree - but be aware that the Delica was sold as the Mitsubishi Colt L300 in Indonesia for many decades and is often called simply "Mitsubishi Colt" there (and in the Philippines). They also call the large Fuso trucks "Mitsubishi Colt Diesel", to make things more confusing still. But I still lean towards that making the hatnote appropriate in Indonesian-language Wiki, not necessarily here. Best,  Mr.choppers | ✎  13:58, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know, that makes a lot more sense as to why they put that. I agree, that hatnote would be more appropriate on the Indonesian language article. TKOIII (talk) 20:31, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Bugatti Chiron successor information

[edit]

Hey why do you remove information about the Bugatti Chiron's successor? The car is already confirmed to debut on June 20, so I'm putting it back up, whether you like it or not. GylonVisagie (talk) 14:19, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles/Conventions#Unannounced vehicles states "information about future or speculative vehicles that have not been officially announced by their manufacturer should not be discussed". In this case, Bugatti has only announced that they are *going to* announce a new hypercar. I don't think that this qualifies for the guidelines, but i'm open to having other editors weigh in or having someone show me precedent that states otherwise as I could be wrong. WP:CRYSTALBALL also encourages us to wait until we have facts rather than educated guesses. WP reports verifiable facts.  Stepho  talk  12:42, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reviving discussion at Template:Infobox automobile

[edit]

I hope you don't mind, but I revived a discussion on spiritual predecessors/successors that you started last year at Template talk:Infobox automobile. Unfortunately, your topic received no responses at that time. I agree that the subject needs to be addressed specifically in the template instructions. I'm hoping others will weigh in this time. Best, Bahooka (talk) 14:18, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I appreciate you reviving the discussion as that's still a big unresolved question I would love some consensus on, especially since there's frequently conflicts between editors about it. TKOIII (talk) 17:51, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Translation(s)

[edit]

I happened upon Wendler (coachbuilder) which is an appreciated article on a topic translated over from German Wikipedia. However there was something missing in the translation process - since it wasn't done with Wikipedia:Content translation tool, you have to write in the edit summary the link to the article it was translated from (as I just did with the text "translated from the German Wikipedia article de:Wendler (Karosseriebau)"). Please keep in mind for the future - and thank you! Reconrabbit 17:41, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Aspark Owl Question

[edit]

Hey,

I'm pretty new to wiki editing and cars as well. Thanks for correcting my mistake. I was just wondering why some cites have the Aspark at an HP of 1980+ while the Aspark website has it 1953 HP Protect Information (talk) 20:05, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, we all make mistakes as new editors. The reason is because there are two ways in which "horsepower" is measured. One is imperial horsepower (abbreviated hp) and the other is metric horsepower (abbreviated ps). Both are referred to as "horsepower" colloquially so it can be confusing, and even some journalists get it wrong. The best way to check is by seeing if the automaker also publishes the power figures in kilowatts (kW, another unit that measures engine power) and then converting that to see which type of horsepower they're referring to. In this case, although Aspark is a Japanese company, and Japan typically uses metric horsepower, they alternate between listing the power in imperial and metric horsepower. However, the 1456 kW output they list confirms the true power output since that converts to 1953 hp and 1980 PS. TKOIII (talk) 20:13, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Lamborghini gallardo 0-60

[edit]

Hello TKOII, u changed my 0-60 time from 3.2 to 3.7 seconds. Car and driver tested the Gallardo in January 2009 and it got to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Would you mind if i put back to 3.2 seconds. Oh here is the link btw: https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a15145104/2009-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-4-short-take-road-test/ Top10editor (talk) 01:30, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be fine with you adding the 3.2 figure back in with that citation, but I don't think it should replace the current number. Instead, you should mention that the 3.7 second figure is the manufacturer's (Lamborghini) claim while Car and Driver achieved 3.2. This is also good to include since different testers sometimes have different policies when it comes to subtracting 1 foot rollout. TKOIII (talk) 01:54, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
oh ok my bad i shouldve thought about that. Thanks Top10editor (talk) 01:55, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
also tkoii thanks for changing the spelling on motortrend on the c6 zr1 overview Top10editor (talk) 01:57, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, and also, welcome to Wikipedia! If you're going to do a lot of editing on the automotive side, you should check out the page "Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles/Conventions". That's the page that lists all the standards for writing automotive articles. TKOIII (talk) 02:41, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
good tip. Thanks Top10editor (talk) 02:42, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

To make a link into a plural it is easiest to simply put the "s" just after the link. Eg: sports cars instead of sports cars. In many cases, there is also a redirect such as sports cars - see WP:REDIRECT. This keeps the wiki markup simpler, which makes it easier for future editors to read, understand and update.  Stepho  talk  23:07, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. I typically edit in the visual editor, so how the markup looks usually isn't at the front of my mind. I'll try and make it a habit to put the "s" outside of the link from now on so the markup is cleaner. TKOIII (talk) 02:33, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. I'm old school, so I do all of my editing manually and never know what the tools do.  Stepho  talk  03:02, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
