Use of official social media sources for awards and nominations

Hi @Relayed! It's been a while. @Royiswariii and I are currently working on the List of awards and nominations received by Bini, which is currently a featured list candidate. While reviewing the citations in the table, I noticed that some news articles don't directly support the nominations (i.e., they don't explicitly state the nominations). However, there are social media posts from the awarding bodies, such as the Awit Awards' Facebook page, announcing the nominations.

I’m wondering whether citing these social media posts is acceptable in featured lists, especially since I’ve seen that the List of awards and nominations received by SB19, which is already a featured list, cites social media posts from the awarding bodies.

Is it acceptable to cite social media posts from official awarding bodies to support nominations, provided the posts are from the official accounts? AstrooKai (Talk) 06:49, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

Hi, AstrooKai! Apologies for not responding soon enough. Yes, it is acceptable as it can be considered "statements of facts" as mentioned in the WP: PRIMARY policy, so long it comes from the official account of the award-giving body and is "reputably published". Before you do, make it a habit to check if reliable sources embed Facebook posts from those accounts, for instance, this Inquirer article embedded a post from the Facebook account of Awit Awards. However, as mentioned in the policy, if you are going to interpret the contents of that primary source in the prose, it should be avoided and instead, supported by a secondary source. As long as your going to use that primary source in the table to verify the list of nominations, you'd be good to go. Another example of an FL that does that is List of awards and nominations received by Ben&Ben, which was promoted last March 2024. – Relayed (t • c) 10:02, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

DYK for Tilaluha

On 9 January 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tilaluha, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Filipino boy band SB19 considered disbandment after their debut single "Tilaluha" saw little success? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tilaluha. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Tilaluha), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Questions about editing

Hi there, Relayed! I hope you can clarify the rationale behind some of your edits to the Simula at Wakas article for me.

1. Changed reference names to numbers - I had originally named the citations after the news outlet and the subject of their news release (e.g., "BBPH trailer" for the Billboard Philippines article about the trailer), which you changed to numbers that were seemingly based on the order they are currently first cited in the article (as each cite is referenced in more than one place). Isn't it clearer to have more descriptive ref names, especially as the article grows and others make edits, and a number-based naming convention only has meaning at an arbitrary moment that can easily change?

2. Is it undesirable for a citation to link to a specific time-stamp in a long video interview? The Zach Sang interview is 39 minutes long and goes into many topics, and the pertinent soundbite (for both times that the cite is invoked) is well past the 30-minute mark, which is why I provided a link to that specific time-frame. When using a book or other written work as a source, one cites the exact page number in order to make it easier to find and check the attribution, so I think the same principle of specificity applies to video materials. If specific time-stamps are a no-no, then how do we make attributions to video sources easy to use? (There might be another field in the cite template that addresses this that I'm unaware of.)

I just want to understand so I can be guided in future edits. Thank you for all you do! --Mercury McKinnon (talk) 03:18, 2 February 2025 (UTC)

Hi, Mercury McKinnon! Thanks for opening up. I apologize, but actually, it was not intentional. I was supposed to be editing just the citation format so that it meets existing MOS, such as the use of title case, use of the correct title of media, italicization (where possible), the website name, and archive links, which is something I do in articles I wrote like Pagtatag!. I was not fully aware of the points you have made, to which I apologize.
As for your first point, I replaced the citations in its entirety using Visual Editor, which does not show the reference names automatically unless I go to Source Editing, which made me unaware of your use of reference names (I actually prefer that than just using pure numbers!). Visual Editor automatically assigns ":0" reference names when using the same citation for multiple times in different parts of the article, and I was yet to edit those names.
As for your second point, I copy-pasted the citation from Pagtatag!, which had a different URL than what you had inputted; I was also unaware at that time that I replaced the URL you used. I do not know if using timestamps on the URL is against MOS (however, there is something similar that should be removed from the URL according to the documentation) but I prefer to use bare URLs without the timestamps in it, and if we want to indicate the specific timestamp of a media, then we can use the minutes parameter of the citation template.
I will go ahead and make the necessary changes soon enough. Thank you for messaging! – Relayed (t • c) 04:40, 2 February 2025 (UTC)

Assessment table question

I just saw the assessment table for the Music task force. I want to create an assessment table for the Politics task force. I have all the things set up. Can you teach me how to create these tables? 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter") 10:26, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

Never mind. Figured it out by your edits. Thanks (technically) :) 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter") 11:38, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi, TheNuggeteer! Thanks for sending a message. It looks like you're revamping the project page for the Politics task force. It's a tedious process so I would not recommend that you have my edits as your only reference (I had a lot of errors doing so, I hope you don't make the same mistakes as me). I recommend reading this manual. – Relayed (t • c) 11:59, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Already made my first mistake when I started (added "the" to the name). I will read this manual and if I need any more help, I will continue to message here. Thank you for replying! 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter") 12:23, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Just a question-how did you make the introduction? (The total articles and the articles by quality). 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter") 12:27, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi again, TheNuggeteer! First, you need to make sure that each grade (e.g., FA-Class, B-Class) has its own category, as mentioned in the manual. It works by counting the number of articles in the specific categories for each grading assessment (e.g., Category: FA-Class Philippine music task force articles, Category: FL-Class Philippine music task force articles). I just copied the code from the project page of WP:TAMBAY and made necessary changes so that it reflects the categories for the specific task force. – Relayed (t • c) 13:04, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Finally finished, thank you so much for helping me! 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter") 02:56, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
@TheNuggeteer: No worries! Glad to be of help. – Relayed (t • c) 08:17, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
