Speedy deletion nomination of WebAlert
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on WebAlert, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Ignatzmice•talk 02:28, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
Important note
[edit]I'll explain in more detail what's going on in a minute - need to type some first - but before that, you're going to have to stop implying anyone is a friend of child molesters, or we'll just block the account and throw away the keys. --Floquenbeam (talk) 16:28, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
OK, so there are several things going on here, and I assume you're pissed off and confused because it all came down on you at once. Let me summarize:
- Don't say someone is sympathetic to child molesters. In real life, that would get you a punch in the face; here, it will get you a permanent block. That's a deeply unfair, arrogant thing to say, and while I assume it was said in anger, it is not going to happen again.
- Your account name violates our username policy, so you'll need to change your user name; see the note below left by another admin.
- It is not enough for an article subject to be true, or a good idea. It needs to meet our policy on notability. We need significant coverage in multiple, independent, reliable sources. If such coverage exists, then the article can be created. See Wikipedia:Your first article for more information.
Let me know if you have any questions. --Floquenbeam (talk) 16:37, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
below this notice. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 16:28, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
