Teahouse
Hi! I see you've checked in as a host, but I don't see your profile in the Host Breakroom. I'll see if I can find yours, but maybe you could just make a new one? Sorry for the inconvenience! heather walls (talk) 02:29, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, I was wondering what was going on. I'll just make a new one. (I think it got lost in the pilot) Mono 02:35, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for joining the new project, and have an enjoyable holiday season! Northamerica1000(talk) 06:48, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

POTY coverage
Hi Mono, would you be interested in writing up the Signpost's coverage of the beginning of Commons' POTY? Basically we'd just be looking for an intro, what has happened before, what is going to happen this year, and how editors can participate. Perhaps five to six paragraphs maximum? Thanks and sorry for the late notice. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 13:52, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, that would be a conflict of interest (as I am rather involved in organizing it), but if that's OK with you, I could write it. It's not exactly a controversial topic. Mono 15:47, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not too worried about that—as you say, it's not controversial at all, and if one of us wrote it, I'm sure we'd phrase it similarly. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 08:50, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- I've started it. Mono 16:11, 14 January 2013 (UTC)

- Thanks so much for your help this week, Mono. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 13:46, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
- Also, you may want to note this, and make any more changes (or revert me!) as needed. :-) Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 15:00, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

The Tea Leaf - Issue Seven

Hello again! We have some neat updates about the Teahouse:
- We’ve added badges! Teahouse awards is a pilot project to learn how acknowledgement impacts engagement and retention in Teahouse and Wikipedia.
- We’ve got a new WikiLove Badge script that makes giving badges quick and easy. Add it here. You can give out badges to thank helpful hosts, welcome guests, acknowledge great questions and more.
- Come join the experiment and let us know what you think!
- And...for all of your great work and all of the progress that you've helped the Teahouse make, we hereby award you the Host Badge:

Teahouse Host Badge |
Awarded to hosts at the Wikipedia Teahouse. Experienced editors with this badge have committed to welcoming guests, helping new editors, and upholding the standards of the Teahouse by giving friendly and patient guidance—at least for a time. Hosts illuminate the path for new Wikipedians, like Tōrō in a Teahouse garden. |

- Doing well. I've been busy on Commons, how are you? Mono 19:19, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- I'm great! Obviously, I haven't been doing too much anymore, but every so often I do! :D I know if I get pretty involved again, I'm likely to get addicted to editing again and spend too much time on it lol. VerballyInsane 20:15, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

I'm all ears
You might want to send me an e-mail from my user page if it's anything long and detailed. Smallbones(smalltalk) 01:27, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- Nothing too verbose - I'm just seeking advice on what needs to be done (and how to do it) and looking for people to help on a team of planners. I also wanted to see how involved you wanted to be - I'm told you did most of the work last year - so there's no pressure, just a query. Thanks, Mono 01:46, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- I actually would rather not do too much this year, but am willing to help out and advise. I was surprised at the range of goals people came in with last year. I'll suggest WP:NRHP be heavily involved - while they may also have different goals - increase number of pics of NHLs, Historic Districts, increase quality, etc. the main one will always be to increase the number of NRHP sites covered (we're up to 53.23% now). Having meetings, or photothons (12 people take 20 photos each of 15 buildings) never grabbed me. State and local lists will be surprisingly difficult to deal with, and folks who suggest these should be required to do the work themselves. The work involves judging - just getting 3 people to look for 20 seconds at each of 20,000 photos takes a huge time (I'll let you do the math), and that's only the first round. There should definitely be one person or more who do nothing but help out the newbies - pure editor recruitment. Off the top of my head, that's it. Smallbones(smalltalk) 03:36, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
