Disambiguation link notification for March 9
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Russian-American Company, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Russian River (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit] Hello, I'm Escape Orbit. I noticed that you recently removed content from Russian-American Company without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:28, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- Please take your issues with the flag on the Russian-American Company article to the the talk page. You cannot revert a year's worth of improvements to the article by multiple editors, simply because you prefer your flag image.
- You should also know that for simple images like flags, jpegs are usually not the preferred format. svg or png work better. Thank you. Escape Orbit (Talk) 07:42, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- If you had bothered to look at the talk page you would have seen that the issue has been brought up repeatedly since 2011. You have reverted 14 YEARS worth of improvements by your callous undo.
- A correct and accurate jpeg is a vast improvement over incorrect, poorly researched and designed svg or png's 172.243.224.152 (talk) 16:15, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Joy (talk) 16:51, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you Joy for your note.
- As you might note the issue has been ongoing since 2011, when my first complaint about vandalism to my Russian-American Company Flag page was made. Since then the insertion of repeated images has been made despite my complaints and edits.
- I would appreciate any assistance in page protection you could offer. 172.243.224.152 (talk) 17:16, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, your reference to "my Russian-American Company Flag page" indicates the difficulty here. You do not own any of these articles. You alone don't get to decide what is right for them. Your collaboration is sought in improving them, which means discussing things with other editors, especially if there is any differences of ideas and opinions. Reverting others contributions, an entire year's worth, without explanation, and accusing them of vandalism simply because you don't agree with their efforts, is against Wikipedia policy.
- If there are problems with the new flag image, then please explain what they are. Precisely, without the accusations and edit warring. You'll find that most editors are reasonable and are just as concerned with making the articles better. Maybe a new image that everyone can be happy with can be designed.
- With that in mind, and in the spirit of constructive discussion, I'll observe that Wikipedia generally prefers "flat" representations of flags in leads, not furled abstractions of old images, and usually in png or svg format. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 20:53, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
