Hi there!
I would like to update the Heidi.com Wikipedia page, as the current article refers to the now-defunct Swiss fashion brand. The domain "Heidi.com" is now owned by Heidi, a UK-based ski holiday booking platform. This request proposes replacing the outdated content with information about the current company.
The new version of the article is structured to align with Wikipedia’s neutrality, verifiability, and notability guidelines. References to third-party sources have been included. Since the existing page refers to a defunct Swiss fashion brand, I propose the following:
1. Move the existing "Heidi.com" article to "Heidi (fashion brand)" to preserve historical information about the original company.
2. Replace the current "Heidi.com" page with this updated article about the ski holiday booking company.
This approach aligns with Wikipedia’s notability and neutrality policies, ensuring that both companies have a proper record. If additional independent sources are required, please advise, and I will provide further citations.
I have posted this request in the 'Talk' section on the Heidi.com page, along with the proposed updated content.
Please could you advise on what happens next?
Thank you --SR75385 (talk) 17:06, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @SR75385. Since the official registered name of the Swiss fashion brand is "heidi.com" while the holiday operator's name is just "Heidi", the fashion brand has an arguably stronger claim to this current title. I would instead recommend directly creating a new article for the holiday operator with a different title (something like "Heidi (holiday operator)"; see Wikipedia:Article titles for further information on choosing a title). You can do this by following the instructions at Wikipedia:Articles for creation, where you can use the Wikipedia:Article wizard to help create a new draft for the article.
- If you still believe that the holiday operator should use the "Heidi.com" title, you can start a discussion by following the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Controversial. If consensus is in agreement with your position to move, the closer of the discussion will move the page for you, and then you can create the new article at the "Heidi.com" title. I would still recommend drafting the new article in draftspace (again using the Wikipedia:Article wizard) or in one of your user subpages for editing convenience. - Thank you very much for your advice. Would it be possible for me to add a line into the other defunct company's existing "Heidi.com" page that stats the Heidi.com domain name is now owned by Heidi the holiday company? And then create a new page titled 'Heidi (holiday operator)', which is linked to from the reference in the Heidi.com page? SR75385 (talk) 16:53, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- Certainly! Liu1126 (talk) 18:47, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- Great, thank you! 2A00:23C7:599:A101:D565:C561:E177:D7CE (talk) 18:55, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi again Liu1126, one more question: I am currently an employee of Heidi - does this mean I can submit a request to add a new page about the company? As long as the information on the page is purely factual and unbiased, is it likely to get approved? SR75385 (talk) 14:30, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi again! Yes, you are allowed and in fact required to submit article drafts through the aforementioned Wikipedia:Articles for creation process instead of directly creating such a page, since you would be considered to have a conflict of interest with articles related to your employer. There shouldn't be any problem as long as the content follows general Wikipedia policies and guidelines; we just need an unassociated, neutral editor to check your work. If you haven't already, I would recommend reading the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide for more advice on your situation. Feel free to ask me or editors involved in the Articles for creation process if you need further clarification. Liu1126 (talk) 16:46, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, thank you so much for your help! SR75385 (talk) 15:44, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Liu1126, How can I add a copyrighted company logo as an image to a page about a company (like this: Skyscanner) without releasing the copyright of the logo? Because I don't personally own the rights to the logo.
- Or, on this company page, they have the logo included in a screengrab of the website: Booking.com. How can I do the same for Heidi, the company I am writing the page about? Thank you. SR75385 (talk) 16:52, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi! Firstly re: the copyright issue, it is possible that the company logo is trademarked but not copyrighted if it doesn't meet the threshold of originality (which was the case with the Skyscanner logo). I'm afraid I'm not familiar with copyright law, so you would need to consult a lawyer or ask at c:Commons:Village pump/Copyright (the place where editors of Wikimedia Commons discuss copyright issues). If it indeed isn't copyrighted, it can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons as usual.
- If you want to upload content that is copyrighted (like the Booking.com page), you would have to do so under the fair use doctrine. Since it is copyrighted, it must be uploaded locally on Wikipedia. You will need to create the article first (having it pass through the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process), since the file page will need to state where it is used. After you've done that, you can either make a request for another experienced editor to upload the file for you at Wikipedia:Files for upload, or (if you are autoconfirmed by then) you can upload it yourself using the Wikipedia:File upload wizard. Both pages contain step-by-step instructions.
- I would also recommend reading the Wikipedia:Non-free content policy. One thing you need to take note of is the resolution of the image: it generally needs to be smaller than its original resolution but sill clear enough to be useful. There's some information on this at WP:IMAGERES, which is a subsection of the aforementioned Non-free content policy. Liu1126 (talk) 17:35, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Io.axolotl (19:21, 13 March 2025)
[edit]is it ok to make an article about brainrot --Io.axolotl (talk) 19:21, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Io.axolotl, Wikipedia already has an article on brain rot. If there are any improvements you would like to make to the page, you can make an edit request (since the article is under extended confirmed protection). Liu1126 (talk) 19:45, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Iamvjones06 (23:50, 13 March 2025)
[edit]I am creating a page for one of my clients. How do I change the username or make the title in her name? --Iamvjones06 (talk) 23:50, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Iamvjones06. Change the title of a page is known as a "page move" on Wikipedia. There are detailed instructions at Wikipedia:Moving a page, but in short, most page moves can be done once you are autoconfirmed. If you are prevented from making a move due to technical reasons, you can ask for help at Wikipedia:Requested moves. To change your username, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Changing username. Additionally, if you haven't already, I would recommend reading Wikipedia:Conflict of interest (or the simpler and more practical guide, Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide), since you would be considered to have a conflict of interest with regards to your client. Question from Josephfred747 on Boeing 737 Next Generation (23:20, 14 March 2025)
[edit]How to add a picture --Josephfred747 (talk) 23:20, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Josephfred747. First, if the picture isn't already on Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons, you'll have to upload it. You can use the Wikipedia:File upload wizard to help you do this (if you're uploading to Commons, please make sure that the image is your own work or is freely licensed; otherwise you can upload it locally on Wikipedia under fair use). Then, you can add the image using the standard image syntax. The brief version looks like this:
[[File:Name|Type
. Just fill in the relevant information and place the code wherever you want the image to appear in the article. You can also use the visual editor to insert images by using the "insert" dropdown at the top. You can learn more by going through the tutorials at Help:Introduction to images with VisualEditor or Help:Introduction to images with Wiki Markup, and you can find more information at Wikipedia:Extended image syntax and Help:Pictures. [edit]No I have problem with having my own page to upload my wiki my fictional character --AkaiEgaoNoOtoko (talk) 15:37, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @AkaiEgaoNoOtoko, you can use the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process to create new articles. I would recommend reading the guide at Help:Your first article to help you. If you have any other specific questions, feel free to ask. Liu1126 (talk) 17:24, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from BonnieMain (16:57, 21 March 2025)
[edit]Hello, I have a quick question. How do I add a video to a page and add a description to the video? --BonnieMain (talk) 16:57, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @BonnieMain, adding videos to articles is mostly the same as adding images. The easiest way would be to use the visual editor. Open the "Insert" dropdown and select "Images and media". If you wish to use the source editor instead, the code syntax for adding media files is:
[[File:Name|Type
. Insert the code where you want the image to be and fill out the fields. Put the name of the file in the "Name" field and the description in the "Caption" field. You can fiddle with the other fields, or just leave them blank. There is documentation on the syntax at Help:Pictures. You can also go through the tutorials Help:Introduction to images with VisualEditor and Help:Introduction to images with Wiki Markup. Hello good day, i was on the wiki page Politics of Trinidad and Tobago and someone place most of the information in the article in the template box for the president, who did I contact to fix it --Lt TARGET (talk) 00:37, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Lt TARGET. It's fine to just revert them initially if you disagree with their edits, as I see you've already done. However, if they insist on changing the page back, don't keep reverting, as this would be considered edit warring. Instead, try to talk to the other editor on the article talk page and come to an agreement. If discussion fails, seek other means of dispute resolution on Wikipedia. Question from Дмитрий Владимирович Евсеев on User talk:Дмитрий Владимирович Евсеев (12:22, 4 April 2025)
[edit]I would like add a new article about Parawinging. It's a new water sport. I made unique text and picture with explanation of structure a parawing. Problem that word parawing is redirected to other article. That's why I try to add new article 'Parawinging' or how to add new meaning to existing article 'Parawing'? --Дмитрий Владимирович Евсеев (talk) 12:22, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Дмитрий Владимирович Евсеев, as the link parawing is already used in a few places, it would be inadvisable to replace it with an article unless it is demonstrably linked more strongly to your new proposed subject. Could you describe this new water sport in greater detail or draft an article for it in draftspace or userspace? That way it would be easier for me to help you evaluate whether it should replace the parawing redirect, be created under a different title, or added to the current rogallo wing article. Question from CheesyCardboard (23:59, 10 April 2025)
[edit]How can I find more info on obscure subjects? --CheesyCardboard (talk) 23:59, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @CheesyCardboard, that would depend on what kind of subject your looking into, so I'm afraid I can't give very specific advice. Search engines are usually a good place to start, and if that fails you can try looking through professional books or magazines on the topic. You can also ask for help at the Wikiproject relevant to the subject; editors there are more likely to be familiar with the topic you're researching and may be able to give more specific suggestions.
