M70 power

[edit]

Could you stop changing the power output? If you read the cite [1] you can see that BMW states the power to be 300 PS (221 kW; 296 hp). Toasted Meter (talk) 20:04, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could you communicate why you think your changes are correct? Toasted Meter (talk) 00:54, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

for m70b50 bmw said its 300 here: https://www.bmw.com/en/innovation/outstanding-bmw-engine-models.html?fbclid=IwAR05JscY1ZnJMA2nuR5MiL8PfuzaHl-IXfX5XdZ9THRqHo2vFCYqWAzZbPI for m8 bmw said its 640 hp here: https://www.bmw-m.com/en/topics/magazine-article-pool/the-bmw-m8-e31-prototype.html?fbclid=IwAR3K4sjNJel9PfukGzLZfIg1UOAPG_QKxDEk6amPWOCtkiNUYMRLsglnuNs

so pleaseeeeeeeeeee renew ur info and stop edit it with wrong info and that 2 links i added to u it s BMW site , not any others as blog or whatever, it is bmw site said bmw m70 its 300 hp and m8 its 640 hp. and how u know it was not a mclaren f1 engine? there s no one in the the world check the bmw m8 of e31 engine or even no one any correct info about it. but when bmw said its 640 hp. that mean u not saying it s 550 or whatever u said. thnx also why u keep delete gt sport car and add gt only? its gt sport car. all world know its gt sport car not sport only. its gt sport. new one on said its gt sport too. i donno why u keep edit wrong info

The M8 one seems fine, but for the M70 one you are making the classic PS hp error, Pferdestärke (PS) is a measure equal to 735.49875 Watts, hp is equal to 745.69987158227 Watts, in Germany PS was the standard unit until it was supplanted by kW, PS remains in use as a secondary unit for applications like cars. Often PS is carelessly translated to hp without knowledge that the units are different, that is what happened here, when you look at the primary unit (KW) you see 220 kW (299 PS; 295 hp) this can not comport with the "(300 hp)" as 300 hp converts to 300 hp (224 kW; 304 PS) however 300 PS (221 kW) converts to the correct number (minus a bit of rounding). When you look at the same page in German [2] it says PS (don't translate it) when you look at a 1993 German brochure it says 220 kW [3] (page 19), when you look at BMW's corporate archive page it says "power 220 kW / 300 PS at 5200 rpm" [4]. This is an extremely common error. Toasted Meter (talk) 03:01, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also we know it's not the McLaren F1 engine due to this quote from the book Driving Ambition by Ron Dennis, Doug Nye and Gordon Murray
"On October 25th, 1990, Gordon visited Munich. The hopped up production V12 would not do: “Too big and heavy. Definitely not for us. Then Paul asked ‘What do you really want?’, so I told him: big displacement in the smallest possible package-size — absolutely no more than 600mm long — revving to around seven-five — 550-plus bhp — maximum weight 250kg — rigid enough to work as a load-bearing structural member — dry-sump lubrication to minimize overall height and avoid surge in high-G cornering.

And Paul simply said ‘We’ll do a new engine’.”" [5] Toasted Meter (talk) 03:08, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

bmw site still said its 300 hp for m70b50 as i see at bmw site then wiki shoild say same as bmw said for mclaren : as u said that was happen on 1990 and bmw made m8 after 1990 and no one know on the world any details about bmw m8 engine but they said its 640 hp and that s too close of mclaren f1 . then how u know and belive its not same engine? am not said its the engine but u should not say its not the same engine. cuz no one know. then if u don not know and same me. the u should not add what u said (its not a mclaren f1 engine)

I know because in a book written by Ron Dennis and Gordon Murray they say its not. What you think is "too close" does not beat a book written by the owner of McLaren at the time and the designer of the F1. The BMW site has been translated badly and has the wrong unit, we have no obligation to follow them in being wrong, I have provided you more than enough evidence that the correct output is 220 kW. @European sales figures : can u add bmw cuz i do not know how to add without deleting something? also why they add mazda and honda and ford at European and that 3 cars not European cars?

Those are sales in Europe of S segment cars not sales of European S segment cars in total. I am not convinced that having a sales table is all that useful, Wikipedia is not the best place for data that requires periodic updates. Toasted Meter (talk) 09:57, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

oky: can u add bmw pls . thnx

Edit war

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Toasted Meter (talk) 20:27, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
