Revert info
[edit]Thank you for the revert policy info and warning. I haven't gotten anywhere with the discussions so far and the history I'm trying to keep intact keeps being removed. Is there a better way to keep the article intact and advance it? Recommendations greatly appreciated. FixIt2000 19:11, 11 April 2007 (UTC)FixIt2000
- There are several possible ways. First of all, discuss on the talk page. Consider the suggestions at Dispute resolution. Ask other editors to help in forming a consensus. Raise the issue at Requests for comment. Find an admin from the list and ask for help. Ask for the page to be protected at requests for page protection. Report the matter at WP:AN/I. Ask at the help desk. But do not just keep reverting, even if you are sure that you are right. If you do, you will only get blocked, and the blockign admin will care little if at all about the merits of the dispute. If you dan been warned previously, I would have blocked you from editing for 24 hours a few minutes ago when i reveiwd the report, and some admins don't insist on a warning.
- I'll take a look at the article and see if I can offer any assistance, and an uninvolved, experienced editor. DES (talk) 19:23, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- P.S. some people look askance at deleting warning posts from your talk page, although the relevant policy says it is permitted but discouraged. DES (talk) 19:23, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the additional guidance. I don't like the "edit war", but it's nice getting more involved with Wikipedia and the people making it work. The discussion regarding the history has been taking place on the Pogo.com discussion page, rather than the Total Entertainment Network page. FixIt2000 19:28, 11 April 2007 (UTC)FixIt2000
- I see, thanks. I just psoted to the TEN talk page, please have a look. DES (talk) 19:32, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
When I respond to your message, should I do it on your or my talk page? FixIt2000 19:46, 11 April 2007 (UTC)FixIt2000
- Now that we have engagd, either will do, but if yuou post on my tak page, I get an instant announcement (when i next display a wikipedia page), so that may be better. I may copy some stuff from my page to yours when responding, to keep the context clear. Not everyone does this.
- Responding to msgs on an article talk page should usually be done on that page, so the whole discussion is together. DES (talk) 19:56, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Where to hold the discussion?
[edit]DES, is it better to hold the discussion on the Pogo or the Total Entertainment Network page? FixIt2000 19:45, 11 April 2007 (UTC)FixIt2000
- It is more usual to hold discussions about the edits to an article on the talk page of that article. But when several articles are related, sometimes it doesn't happen that way. As long as there is a civil discussion, exactly where doesn't matter much. Since you have started to discuss on the Pogo page, why not keep it there. But then let's put a note on the TEN page so that anyone new to the situation who does the obvious thing of looking on that talk page will know where the discussion is.
