AfD nomination of 2015 Pan American Games

[edit]

I have nominated 2015 Pan American Games, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2015 Pan American Games. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Detroit Olympics

[edit]

Yeah, the Detroit Free Press had it on their website (freep.com) about Detroit City Council deciding to "actively persue and study the viability of a 2020 Summer Olympics Bid" (basically study the city and see if it can support and afford the Olympics), but it's since been removed X.X. RE:Singapore 2010 YOG

[edit]

First, may I point out that a general image of Downtown Singapore is of little value-addedness in an article on the Olympics. Photographs for cities in 2012 Summer Olympics bids do not show random photographs, but actual photographs related to the Olympic bid process. There is no need to rush to include any photograph in the absence of a relevant photograph, especially when it tells nothing extra to the reader, and on my sceeen at least, it even clutters up the 2010 Youth Olympic Games page in particular.

As for the inclusion of Singapore in the Olympics Template, I am not aware of any conflicts on such a move until now that you mention it. Apparantly just one user has found it neccesary to "derate" an Olympic event, and I am not sure if that is an agreeable move. As for the YOG template, in all honesty I felt it was poorly made, and an unnecesary dublication of the main Olympic template. Kindly consider merging them instead.--Huaiwei (talk) 05:29, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that you are trying to illustrate the winning city, and yes, I agree a picture will be great. But I think you need not worry that the 2010 Youth Olympic Games article will be devoid of images. I have plans to massively rewrite that article. Considering I live in that city, it should not be a major problem to get my own images where neccesary. It was a great pity, however, that I could not make it down to the bid announcement celebrations. That would have been the perfect picture for this purpose.
As for the template, the existing Olympics template already includes the YOGs. The YOG template is a direct dublication, and I find it highly premature to create such a template now. A YOG medal count or medalists list, for example, can only exist two years later! I also do not sense much "concensus" on the creation of a dublication template, unless you can point it out to me in case I missed it. Meanwhile, I have brought up the in/ex-clusion of "Singapore 2010" for discussion at Template_talk:Olympic_Games. Do feel free to voice your opinions there also. Cheers!--Huaiwei (talk) 05:51, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Charlie's Angels episodes

[edit]

Thank you for the compliment! =) Over the past few months I've been trying to improve the overall quality of the article and the episode list. Unfortunately, the show is one that often garners criticism and is not taken seriously, thus the contributions made by some are, well, you know, not too good. There is so much information out there about the show, it's a shame that more people don't contribute to the article. I'd like to get some stuff in there about the reaction (both positive and negative) from feminist groups, but I've yet to locate any such sources. Keep up the good work! --Pisceandreams (talk) 00:37, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Paramount Theatre

[edit]

Thanks for the offer, I'm sure I'll use some of them once I get around to completing it. I'm surprised that you even stumbled across it. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 14:36, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Michael Bennett

[edit]

Hi. Michael Bennett was indeed a well-known choreographer, but he's already in the category "American choreographers", which is a sub-category of "Choreographers", and policy is that you should not put an article in the parent category if it's already in the sub-category. "American choreographers" is, obviously, the category that best fits Bennett, so when soneone mistakenly added the "Choreographers" category to the page, I removed it. Re: Good job!

[edit]

Thank you for the compliment! Though I cannot profess to say that all my edit summaries have been pure. I think that for frequent editors, it's easier to consolidate unrelated novice contributions into something universal to be bitter over. I just try to dispense such advice of civility to help myself along, too. :) Happy editing! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 17:24, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edits from 64.135.210.188

[edit]

I see that you too had to deal with edits from this IP user and like to deal with vandals. Edits from this IP user were similar to the ones you experienced and dealt with in 2008. There seems to be a pattern (e.g., altering population figures) and looks like vandal activity coming from a school. Just thought I would bring this to you since you said you liked dealing with vandals. Thanks for keeping an eye on vandal activity. Hope to see you around the article on Chicago. As a fellow Chicagoan perhaps you too would like to see the article as a Featured Article. Pknkly (talk) 22:02, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2020 Summer Olympics

[edit]

This message is regarding 2020 Summer Olympics. I think the reason you removed the U.S. section is because you appear to have heard a proof that they will not be in the United States. If that's the reason, you should move it to the Cancelled bids section. Georgia guy (talk) 19:44, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bids for the 2016 Summer Olympics

[edit]

Hi Cbradshaw! I want to make Bids for the 2016 Summer Olympics a Featured topic comprising other seven articles: Rio de Janeiro; Chicago, Madrid, Tokyo; Baku, Doha and Prague. However, it is difficult to do alone. I wonder if you could help, managing such an article (perhaps Chicago's) until it reaches the Featured article status. I am looking for others who might also help. Best regards; Felipe Menegaz 18:30, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Youth Olympic Games

[edit]

Hi there, is it standard to highlight current Games in the bottommost section as in Template:Youth Olympic Games? I thought it is typically reserved for mentioning upcoming Games only. Also, shouldn't the 2010 link be un-italicised since it has already began? I don't really fiddle around with these templates, so I just wanted your comments. MTM episodes

[edit]

Dear Sir, As a significant contributor to the List of The Mary Tyler Moore Show episodes article, I invite you to contribute summaries of seventh season episodes. As you may know, the final season is now available on DVD. As this article was more or less otherwise complete, I have formatted the last section to permit easy additions of episode summaries. Thank you for your past contributions. Sincerely, Njsustain (talk) 18:34, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I don't have the set yet, but I'm hoping I get it for Christmas, and then I will get busy!Cbradshaw (talk) 23:39, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Getting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games

[edit]

Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Thank you. --LauraHale (talk) 05:01, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of James Bond film locations, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Okinawa. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
