Ways to improve Afif Abed

[edit]

Hello, Avigail56,

Thank you for creating Afif Abed.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Of the various facts presented in the 'Biography' section, only one has a reference, and there are only two for the whole article. Please add additional references.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Bastun}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Yuval Raphael, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A bare URL and missing title error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 09:23, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on any page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hello, thank you for the notification. I noticed that I received a message regarding editing a contentious topic, but the edit I made was about Israel's representative at the Eurovision Song Contest and is not related to the Arab–Israeli conflict. I would appreciate clarification if this was a mistake or an explanation as to why this edit is considered part of a contentious topic. Thank you! However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

DYK for Yuval Raphael

[edit]

On 21 February 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Yuval Raphael, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Yuval Raphael, who is set to represent Israel at Eurovision 2025, survived the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel by hiding under dead bodies for eight hours? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Yuval Raphael. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Yuval Raphael), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Seesaw (poem) moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Seesaw (poem). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Mekomo (talk) 17:04, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

To enforce an arbitration decision, and for violation of WP:PIA despite prior warning, you have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain namespaces ((Article)).

If you believe this block is unjustified, please read the guide to appealing blocks (specifically this section) before appealing. Your reason here OR place the reason below this template. ~~~~}}. If you intend to appeal on the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I suggest you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template on your talk page so it can be copied over easily. Reminder to administrators: In May 2014, ArbCom adopted the following procedure instructing administrators regarding Arbitration Enforcement blocks: "No administrator may modify a sanction placed by another administrator without: (1) the explicit prior affirmative consent of the enforcing administrator; or (2) prior affirmative agreement for the modification at (a) AE or (b) AN or (c) ARCA (see "Important notes"). Administrators modifying sanctions out of process may at the discretion of the committee be desysopped."

Request reason:

I sincerely apologize, I forgot that this was one of the topics I'm not allowed to edit. Please give me another chance. I promise not to engage with any restricted topics again. I'm even willing to accept a further restriction, such as avoiding this topic for a year or for another 1,000 edits. I spend a lot of time on Wikipedia and I truly want to keep contributing. Honestly, this was a really, really, really unintentional mistake. Avigail56 (talk) 9:03 am, Today (UTC−4)

Accept reason:

Thanks Avigail56, I'm willing to accept this request. signed, Rosguill talk 13:42, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I really appreciate it. Thank you so much. Avigail56 (talk) 11:35, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Rosguill I created a category: Category:Members of the Executive of the World Zionist Organization and it relates to the State of Israel and the Zionist Congress. I don't want to do anything prohibited. Can I add the relevant people to this category, or would that count as a violation of WP:PIA? Avigail56 (talk) 13:39, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing in the category that is disputed or associated with any conflict. On the other hand, I am concerned that the very word "Zionism" might prevent me from editing on the subject. I would be glad to know what to do about this. Avigail56 (talk) 13:42, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
One last thing: I created the category because there is currently a public debate about the topic in Israel. Only after creating it did I suddenly realize that it might be problematic. Avigail56 (talk) 13:43, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Anything related to Zionism or the World Zionist Organization is part of the conflict, broadly construed, as an ideology/organizaton whose central premise is creating and maintaining a Jewish state in Palestine. I would suggest reviewing WP:ECREXPLAIN. signed, Rosguill talk 17:08, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Members of the Executive of the World Zionist Organization indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. plicit 14:55, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Smoker

[edit]

I noticed you just created Smoker (cooking appliance). Thank you! However, I think that subject matter is already covered in Smoker (cooking). You might want to redirect your page there, or request it be deleted. Seercat3160 (talk) 07:18, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think there is a difference between the act of smoking (or smoked food in general) and the instrument with which it is done. Avigail56 (talk) 08:08, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
