Murder of Vanja Gjorchevska moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Murder of Vanja Gjorchevska, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 15:58, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The sourced are reliable. It's a famous Macedonian channel. It's All over the news. I'm Macedonian as well. Bring it back. Andrew012p (talk) 16:00, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps, but you can't copy them verbatim. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 16:01, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That article that you listed, I didn't copy from that. I wrote from the Macedonian text, but you shouldn't have moved it, I would have just retyped so that it had the same meaning as the article. But alright, it is what it is. My purpose was to just put a short description hoping other people would help contribute it, because it's a hot topic currently. Andrew012p (talk) 16:11, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As a note, you're free to move it back into the mainspace (per WP:DRAFTIFY), and I won't contest it. The point in moving to incubation was that over half of the already short article was verbatim from this website, removing the copyright problem more or less gutted the page. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 16:06, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Matka

[edit]

For your reference, Матка (toponym, either the canyon or the river) is not womb. I checked onomastic dictionary: Stankovska, Ljubica (1997). Македонска ојконимја. Skopje: Metamorfoza. p. 165, see there for more. The origin should be an archaic sense which is not kept in appellatives: длабоко место на река каде што таа никогаш не пресушува, речно корито. I also doubled checked речник на македонскиот јазик (1961), the sense is there, I assume only few people know the old sense. Chihunglu83 (talk) 15:46, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Chihunglu83, the newest Macedonian dictionary and the "official" is the Официјалниот речник на македонскиот јазик (Толковен речник). There it says that it's a synonym for материца, which is "внатрешен женски полов орган во кој се развива плодот". In English that would be womb, uterus. But you are right about the other meaning. Средина на речното корито каде што водната струја е најсилна и каде што водата е најдлабока. What do you think should be the translation? I think maybe "thalweg, midstream, mainstream, deep". Any of these things. What do you think? And thank you for telling me. --Andrew012p (talk) 16:16, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just to clarify once more: as a noun матка=материца=uterus which is correct. What I meant here is that the old meaning , or the original meaning of this toponym should be something like: (river) channel. It is VERY common that a Slavic toponym keeps the original meaning(sense) which is not kept in nouns, interpreting place names synchronically is thus wrong. Of course one can argue that womb can be the shape of a topographical feature etc, but that would be folk etymology based on words. Stankovska also points out that in Bulgarian, Polish, Russian, Serbian this word (and it's derivatives function as a hydronym) so proving it's commonality. Thanks again for contributing on Macedonian wiki :) Chihunglu83 (talk) 17:28, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 05:04, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Whpq, Thanks for telling me. So I have to write it myself? Is this acceptable?
-The story centers on Yui Mitsuya and Masugu Tateishi, coworkers who have recently entered into a romantic relationship. Determined to keep their romance hidden from their colleagues, they navigate the challenges of maintaining professionalism while concealing their affection. Their daily interactions are filled with humorous situations as they attempt to keep their secret under wraps.
What do you think? Thanks -Andrew012p (talk) 11:31, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, plots, and pretty much anything else you contribute to Wikipedia needs to be in your own words. If you wrote this yourself, and didn't copy and modify some words of another plot outline, then it should be fine. -- Whpq (talk) 14:44, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hey Andrew012p, I'm planning on nominating Kočani nightclub fire for a good article status once the news cycle cools down (so like in a month or so). Would you be interested in being my co-nominator? Grumpylawnchair (talk) 16:44, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Grumpylawnchair, can you tell me how does that work? Do I need to be involved more in the article or how? Andrew012p (talk) 22:17, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
1. I will nominate the article using the good article nomination process (I'm a reviewer for good articles, so I'm familiar with the criteria.) and add you as a co-nom in the notes (or if you're going to nominate it, reverse the roles). 2. You already are involved enough. Per the Good Article nomination instructions, you need to have either wrote more than ten percent of the article (according to Xtools [1], you wrote 19%) or be in the top 5 in terms of authorship (you are 2). I meet both of these criteria as well. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask them. I thought it would be useful to have a native Macedonian speaker help out to make sure everything is accurate. Grumpylawnchair (talk) 22:27, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So would you be interested? I could also post on the talk page of WikiProject North Macedonia to see if anyone else is interested in helping out too since I assume (guessing on news coverage - I'm American), that it is a major event in the country. I'm also rewriting 2025 Macedonian anti-corruption protests since it's probably machine-generated, if you're interested in that. No pressure, and I understand if this is a lot. Thanks for your consideration, Grumpylawnchair (talk) 22:35, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Grumpylawnchair, if I'm doing how I'm editing so far for the Kocani nightclub fire then yes, I am interested. I don't know how the process works, so I would leave that up to you. :) You can ask me to check up on things to see if it's accurate with Macedonian news. Is that okay? Andrew012p (talk) 22:38, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thank you. My Macedonian isn't very good (have a diaspora friend), so thanks for the assistance. I will continue working on the article and let's see how this goes. I'll work out the details of the nomination once I feel it is more stable. Grumpylawnchair (talk) 22:45, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Grumpylawnchair, no problem. Feel free to ask if you're uncertain for something. And let's hope for the best. Andrew012p (talk) 22:47, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, thanks. I hope the perpetrators of this tragedy are brought to justice, and not to get too touchy-feely, but I feel that it is important to properly document this fire so that the victim are not forgotten. Sincerely, Grumpylawnchair (talk) 22:51, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
They will be brought to justice. I read the owner will probably receive 20 years in prison. We will see how it goes. Andrew012p (talk) 22:59, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, since I don't think the politicians will be able to worm their way out of this one. I pray for the families of the victims and I will continue to work on the article. Grumpylawnchair (talk) 23:01, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
