Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Lyndon Dykes. The WP:BLP policy requires us to use reliable sources when we edit articles about living people. Closer magazine is a celebrity gossip magazine, and a posting on a forum can never be considered reliable. Please be more careful in the future. Thank you. As to policy, every time we open an article about a living person (BLP) in edit mode, a "Notice about sources" appears, either at the top of the page on desktop view or as a popup on mobile, whose wording appears at Template:BLP editnotice. It gives links to the various relevant sections of the WP:BLP policy, pretty clear instructions about what sort of sourcing is acceptable for BLPs, and what should be done if we think the source(s) used are inappropriate. Closer magazine's "about" page says "Closer stormed the celeb magazine scene in 2005, and has been bringing you the best of showbiz news, telly scoops, and affordable life and style tips ever since." The 5-line snippet cited, headed "Victoria Dykes – ‘The scandal romance’", which both mis-spells her first husband's name and gets the name of the football club both men worked for wrong, doesn't strike me as a high quality source within the meaning of that policy.

The name of the subject's wife can be included in the article, so long as that and anything else about her is written conservatively and sourced appropriately. See para 3 of the lead section at WP:BLP, which says "Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid: it is not Wikipedia's job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives", and WP:BLPRS, which says "material should not be added to an article when the only sources are tabloid journalism. When material is both verifiable and noteworthy, it will have appeared in more reliable sources." If you want to include personal content, please look for it in "more reliable sources".

As to forums not being reliable, no, that isn't just my opinion. WP:BLPSPS says "Never use self-published sources—including but not limited to books, zines, websites, blogs, podcasts, and social network posts—as sources of material about a living person, unless written or published by the person themself." cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:25, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
