It is likely to be seen as an effort to game the system, and may result in the drafts being nominated for deletion. This draft has been resubmitted without any visible improvement, or with very little improvement. If you do not know what is needed to improve this draft, please ask for advice rather than making minor improvements and resubmitting. Asmarh (also known as Osmaad) is a hamlet located within the administrative boundaries of Masak village in Chakrata block, Dehradun district, Uttarakhand, India.[1] The settlement is situated at an elevation of approximately 2,100 meters above sea level in the Jaunsar-Bawar region.
Geography

The area experiences temperate climate conditions typical of the Himalayan foothills, with distinct seasonal variations. The terrain consists primarily of forested hills dominated by Deodar (Cedrus deodara), Oak, and Pine species.[4]

Demographics
[edit]The hamlet is inhabited by members of the Jaunsari community, who are recognized as a Scheduled Tribe by the Government of India since 1967.[7] The primary language spoken is Jaunsari, though Hindi is also commonly understood and used.
The Jaunsari people maintain traditional practices including polyandry, which was historically prevalent in the region, and follow customs distinct from other communities in Uttarakhand.[8] Economic activities in the area primarily consist of agriculture, horticulture (particularly apple cultivation), and animal husbandry.

The area is mentioned in various historical records and was subject to specific administrative arrangements during the British Raj. The region was formally surveyed and documented during the British colonial period, with detailed settlement records prepared in the 19th century.[9]
