Idris Aregbe
Idris Aregbe (born October 22, 1972) is a Nigerian entrepreneur, cultural advocate, and public servant. He is currently the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Tourism, Arts, and Culture. Aregbe is known for promoting Yoruba culture, youth empowerment, and economic development in Nigeria.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Idris Aregbe was born in Lagos, Nigeria, into a business-oriented family. His father, the late Alhaji Aregbe, greatly influenced his entrepreneurial path. He studied Business Administration at the University of Lagos.
Career
[edit]Aregbe began his career at Aregbe Industries, his family's enterprise. He later founded Idris Aregbe Holdings, with interests in:
- Real estate
- Agriculture
- Construction
- Import and export
- Entertainment
- Branding
He also established No 1 Heritage Solutions, under which he launched:
- Connecting Lagos – a networking hub for young professionals and entrepreneurs.
- Lagos Fries – a lifestyle and food venture.
- Culturati – a cultural fusion platform celebrating African heritage.
In politics, Aregbe:
- Contested in the 2021 APC Surulere Local Government primaries.
- Was appointed Southwest Secretary of National Youth Mobilisation for the APC Presidential Campaign Council (2023).
Cultural Advocacy
[edit]Aregbe is the founder of Culturati, one of Africa’s largest cultural events. Through this initiative, he:
- Promotes Yoruba heritage across youth communities in Nigeria and the diaspora.
- Hosts the Sisi Oge Pageant, a showcase of Yoruba fashion, food, language, and customs.
His cultural initiatives have attracted support from traditional institutions, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
