Information icon Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Joslyn Rose Lyons—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 00:39, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

Can you please be more specific as to why you reverted the article? It was flagged for the following issues and I corrected all of them. How can this not be constructive,or are you a bot?
This biography of a living person needs additional citations for verification. (March 2022)
This article contains wording that promotes the subject in a subjective manner without imparting real information. (September 2023) Slacker13 (talk) 00:42, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
Please note I've listed this as an active disagreement. Slacker13 (talk) 00:56, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

Women in Red

Hi there, Slacker13, and welcome to Women in Red. It's good to see you intend to help us along by improving our coverage of Women. I noticed you started to prepare a biography of Daniela Soberman but then abandoned it. When writing biographies, especially of living people, it is important to draw on at least three reliable independent sources, for example articles in recognized newspapers or journals, write-ups in connection with awards, or critical reviews. You'll find further guidance in our Ten Simple Rules. I would be happy to help you along if you start working on a new draft biography. You can start preparing something in your user space as User:Slacker13/name of article. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 10:39, 13 December 2023 (UTC)

Thank you so much! I could use the help. I have several in mind but have been a bit gun shy about creating them, so this offer is a welcome surprise. :) Slacker13 (talk) 15:11, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
I'm starting on an article about a female artist. Would love to get your feedback once I've got some meat in it. Slacker13 (talk) 23:46, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Hey @Ipigott. Would love to get your thoughts on this new article. User:Slacker13/Slacker13/Nellie King Solomon. Still working on it. I'm still fleshing it out (esp the initial section under work and career) -- but wanted to get your feedback before I went much further.
A few questions:
  1. Is there a way to invite you to edit/make commentary directly?
  2. How to add photo to text box prior to publishing?

thanks for the help @Ipigott !! Slacker13 (talk) 15:59, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
  • Hi there, Slacker13. I'm afraid your article Draft:Nellie King Solomon is in serious danger of deletion as a result of copyright violations. When you find information on the internet, you need to re-express it in your own words. Please go carefully through the article and make sure there are no longer any copyvio threats. Use Earwig's copyvio detector to check things out. If you can rewrite the article in your own words, it seems to me as if NKS is notable enough for inclusion. Please let me know when you would like me to take a new look at the article.--Ipigott (talk) 07:14, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
Ah, thank you for the tool! I thought I paraphrased everything, but looks like not enough. Will take a second pass. Thank you! Slacker13 (talk) 07:28, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
Ok, I reworded that majority of it. I'm not ready for you to look yet, though. I may rework it some more -- just did initial changes so it didn't get deleted. will reach out when ready. THANK YOU for all of the resources. Extremely helpful. Slacker13 (talk) 17:29, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
  • Thanks for your additional work on this. It's now in mainspace. Feel free to continue improving it. Many of the remaining copyvios are to do will lists of exhibitions, etc. You can avoid problems here by presenting them in running prose rather than just copying lists. Drop me a line or ping me if you would like me to look at any other new articles.--Ipigott (talk) 13:44, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

Hey Dan! Thanks for your help in reviewing my page. I know there aren't a ton of sources for Debbie Ma, BUT, i did find one from Artnet which is pretty significant art news resource. One of the main ones in the industry. Is that not enough? Slacker13 (talk) 17:44, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
Hey Dan! In reviewing the notability requirements, I think I agree with your determination. Not enough sources to verify notability. I'm ok for deletion. Slacker13 (talk) 05:15, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

Control copyright icon Hello Slacker13! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:34, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi! You seem to be referring to the images I uploaded for the Nellie King Solomon and Barbara Stauffacher Solomon since the pages I uploaded are not in danger of content copyright violation. I believe the images for use in their bio's are fair use. Can you point me to a reason why you believe otherwise? thank you! Slacker13 (talk) 06:04, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
