Samuel Herzfeld is a Belgian writer.[1]
With a scholarly background in economics, he is the author of the book Jürgen Löwenstein, the Fate of a Jewish Child from Berlin, published by Éditions Jourdan in 2022.[2],.[3] Samuel Herzfeld met Jürgen Löwenstein as a teenager, while on vacation in Israel with his parents—a chance meeting from which a deep friendship would emerge.[4] This book is a chronicle that traces the harrowing journey of Jürgen Löwenstein, a Holocaust survivor who, as a Jewish teenager in Nazi Germany, was deported to the Auschwitz and Mauthausen concentration camps.[5],[6]. This biography was compiled from testimonies gathered with the assistance of Israeli historian and Auschwitz concentration camp specialist Gideon Greif.
Samuel Herzfeld is the grandson of Eliasz Herzfeld, a Holocaust survivor from Przemysl, Poland.[7][8]
