[edit]

Brown is a master-level roller skating instructor and internationally acclaimed performer. He has taught, competed, and performed in over 20 countries, representing the United States in workshops, exhibitions, and cultural exchanges. Brown is credited with helping the JB style of skating gain national and international recognition.

In 2021, Brown was approved as Chair of Culture Roll under USA Roller Sports (USARS), marking a major milestone for the integration of cultural skating styles into national sport governance.[1] He also appeared at the New York Stock Exchange to represent roller skating’s cultural and economic significance.

In 2018, Brown was featured as a main character in HBO’s documentary United Skates, which explores Black roller skating culture, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and aired on HBO in February 2019.[2] The HBO website highlights Brown’s participation as a central figure in the film. The film was later a finalist for the Outstanding Arts & Culture Documentary at the 41st News & Documentary Emmy Awards.[3] He co-produced the official soundtrack alongside Jongnic Bontemps and Keezo Kane, released in 2020. Rolling Stone highlighted the documentary’s trailer and noted Brown’s central appearance among other featured skaters.[4]
