[edit]These are really great sources. The additions to teaching ESL but through the lense of plurilingualism is especially interesting.

Group work on plurilingualism

These are a great start. They all have something to do with learning languages in / through formal education, which the existing article also does, but it's super vague about it. I hope you can bring some clarity to this, and also to why people felt the term "bilingual" wasn't good enough. djg (talk) 03:05, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
Notes on Towards a Plurilingual Approach in English Language Teaching: Softening the Boundaries Between Languages[1]
[edit]-teaching esl typ means teaching it separate from any other lang
-idea of hard and soft boundaries -- PL more fluid
-PCP (plurilingual communicative practices)
-not just about speaking multiple, but (Especially in ESL) about referencing the aspects/rules/elements of other language
-one nation -- one language ideology in europe
-want them to have same control of language as native speaker - unrealistic
-teaching eng (or second lang) helps stimulate/activate someone's plurilingualism
-integrated curriculum: contrast different langs learning & highlight diffs
do these things apply if a different language is being learned as a second language vs ESL
sections that should exist
[edit]plurilingualism in second language teaching
diff between pluri and multi and bi, code switching(?)
pluricultural competence, or a separate page with link
-multiple versions of one language: learning one opens door to plurilingualism
-functional def: currently praticing mulitple langs and able to switch when necessary w/o too much difficulty
-competency in plurilingualism isn't learning two diff things, but changing the one as a whole
-often accompanied by pluriculturalism
-overlap of plurilingualism and pluriculturalism allows for context to be provided to understand the meaning depending on which language is being utilized
-people who are plurilingual tend to have better communicative sensitivity, creativity, and metalinguistic awareness
-advantages are even stronger more languages you learn
