Comment: being "referenced on the Wikipedia page for The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills" is irrelevant and profiles confer zero notability. Theroadislong (talk) 20:08, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
Dominick DiBartolomeo
[edit]Dominick DiBartolomeo is an American entrepreneur and specialty foods expert, best known as the owner of both The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills and Domenico's Foods. He has appeared in numerous food and lifestyle publications for his contributions to the artisanal food scene in Los Angeles.
Early Career and Background
[edit]Before acquiring The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills, DiBartolomeo founded Domenico’s Foods, an artisanal food company known for its pastas, pestos and sauces. Based in Los Angeles, Domenico’s Foods has supplied Italian staples to fine dining restaurants, gourmet retailers and farmers markets across California.[1]
DiBartolomeo’s background and entrepreneurial path were highlighted in a feature by VoyageLA, where he discussed his Italian American roots, passion for cooking and path from long-time employee of The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills to store owner.[2]
The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills
[edit]In 2022, DiBartolomeo acquired The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills, a long-standing culinary institution originally founded in 1967. He purchased the business from longtime proprietor Norbert Wabnig and led the store through a significant revitalization. This included a relocation to a new, larger space just a few blocks from the original location and the introduction of expanded offerings including curated cheeses, housemade pastas and gourmet sandwiches.[3]
Under DiBartolomeo's direction, the store became a destination for both European imports and California-made products. His vision emphasized preserving the shop’s heritage while modernizing it for a new generation.[4]
The store is also personally meaningful to DiBartolomeo, as it was where he first met his wife, Aggie. Their relationship began during a chance encounter at the store and was later featured in a video detailing their story.[5]
Media and Recognition
[edit]DiBartolomeo has been featured in publications such as Forbes,[6] Eater LA,[7] Michelin Guide,[8] Modern Luxury Angeleno, Los Angeles Magazine, KCRW’s Good Food,[9] and The Washington Post.[10] He was the subject of a profile in Reporter Gourmet highlighting his transition from food entrepreneur to luxury retailer.[11]
He also co-hosts the podcast Industry Only at The Cheese Store, where he interviews prominent figures in the food industry. In 2024, he interviewed Wolfgang Puck in one of the show’s premiere episodes.[12]
Personal Life
[edit]DiBartolomeo lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter. In addition to running The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills, he continues to operate Domenico’s Foods. He is recognized for his expertise in international cheeses, charcuterie and fine specialty goods, and his commitment to elevating artisanal food experiences for consumers across Southern California.
