This child template contains all relevant data on open arbitration cases displayed by {{Casenav}}. Data can be deleted once a case has closed and been removed from {{ArbComOpenTasks}}.
Opening cases
When opening a case, add the parameters between the <syntaxhighlight>...</syntaxhighlight> tags under the top line, adding the exact casename before the dashes and providing the known values as indicated.

(For the list of arbitrators by activity to be used in new cases, see Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee#Members; copy and paste, keeping the links and removing the indenting colons. If there are no '''Recused:''' arbitrators, this heading should be omitted from the -list=.)
After adding the data, ensure that {{Casenav}} is placed at the top of each case page and case talk page.
Updating activity levels
When an arbitrator becomes active or inactive, they usually do so on multiple cases. This template makes it possible for a clerk to update the tallies and lists of active/inactive arbitrators for all cases at once.
Please note that arbitrators sometimes deal differently with the transition from away/inactive to active status, depending on how long they were away, how many cases are pending at the time, and personal preferences. For example, one arbitrator might ask to be moved to active on all pending cases, while another might choose to become active only on new cases accepted after returning, or only on cases where they actually vote on the decision. If the arbitrator's desire is unclear, they should be asked. The one definite rule is that an arbitrator must be listed as active on any case where they voted on the proposed decision.
Closing cases
The clerk who closes the case should substitute the closed casenav template on each case page at the time of closing with {{subst:Casenav/closed}}. This will hardcode the values onto the relevant pages. Please then ensure that the data is properly hardcoded on the case pages. You should not remove a closed case from this data template until it is removed entirely (i.e. from the Recently closed section) of Template:ACOT. When removing the final case from this template, do not remove the top safesubst: line and the closing brackets below the parameters.
Other parameters
nodraft
If there are no drafting arbitrators on a case it shows up on case pages as "TBD". The option |-nodraft= can be used to replace the default text.
status-code
Setting the <case name>-status-code will override the automatic case phase detection logic (based on dates). Acceptable values are case-insensitive forms of:
- not open (before anything is open)
- evidence (when both evidence and the workshop are open)
- evidence only (when only evidence is open, perhaps because the workshop was skipped)
- workshop (when the workshop is open)
- pd (when the ball is in the arbitrators' court)
You cannot override the "case closed" status. That is detected based upon whether the main case page is in Category:Wikipedia open arbitration cases.
status-override
To completely override the status banner, use <case name>-status-override=. You need to include {{notice}} (or equivalent) markup if you want the status to be formatted like a banner. Setting this to no will hide the banner entirely.
