Suggested edits
[edit]Since IP edits tend to be deleted out of hand, I submit the following suggestions that someone with membership may wish to implement: 1. Since she has a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine, shouldn't the lead or infobox refer to her as Dr. Ruby Dhalla? Also, the lead should refer to her as a former actress as that was her primary public notability before becoming an MP. 68.146.70.177 (talk) 13:06, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
"businesswoman, philanthropist"
[edit]At some point in the last few weeks, someone added these two positions to the top of the article.
I've just searched the article for the words philanthropist, charity, and neither occurs. To re-add this, we need something in the article proper. Nothing should be in the lede without support below.
As to businesswoman, I've removed it from the lede until someone can replace the current source to the Dhalla Group with one that isn't a press release. While the article is credited, the about section at the bottom suggests that it isn't completely independent of the company. -- Zanimum (talk) 12:22, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
Quote of Dhalla on AIDS summit
[edit]- The following month, she described Prime Minister Stephen Harper's refusal to attend an international AIDS conference in Toronto as "an embarrassment for Canada on the world stage". Beth Duff-Brown, "Canada's PM will not be among record number of delegates at Toronto AIDS summit", Associated Press, 31 July 2006, 16:45 report.
I've searched Google, no sites have this AP article. I've searched Newspapers.com, and an article by Beth Duff-Brown, Associated Press on this conference does appear, but it was published August 14, and quotes Bill Gates. This quote does not appear in any outlet, 2006, with or without attribution to Dhalla, on any topic.
"an embarrassment for Canada on the world stage" does appear in the transcript of a Power Play with Don Martin episode in relation to seal culls (2012), avoidance of a climate change summit (2014), and what was said in relation to a "patchwork" of provincial-level security regulators (2011). -- Zanimum (talk) 23:41, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
