Chronology

[edit]

The entry says he started his career with Alfresco, but (a) I've never heard of that; it ran for just two years in '83-84; (b) his first Comic Strip Presents was in 1982, and they are MUCH better known (and kept going far longer, and got repeated). It's misleading to say he 'gained national prominence' with Cracker; he was a well-known comic actor by then, playing against type - Nuns on the Run was several years earlier, and he'd appeared in many of the UK's most popular comedy series by that point. Also appeared in TV Party with Chris Stein. See Parkinson One To One - Robbie Coltrane. --Broichmore (talk) 17:28, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Might be worth mentioning that, although he has no lines, he can be seen in Hugh Hudson’s film, Revolution, as a burgher sitting at a meeting - he was quite a well known TV comedian by then, so it was unusual to see him as more or less an extra; I don’t have a citation for it, but I seem to recall that at the time he said he’d been asked to appear in it because his physical appearance made him look like what the casting people thought an eighteenth century burgher would have looked like. Coltrane is not listed in the cast section at Still Game. Would you please provide verification from a reliable source? We need a citation. Peaceray (talk) 12:30, 8 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
