Asymmetrical multiplayer
[edit]I've been writing about asymmetrical multiplayer games, and the section on this in the article seems largely inaccurate. games like League and DOTA, even Rainbow Six Siege allow you the chance to play with all of the characters, either choosing from the same selection in League/DOTA, or by swapping sides to the other selection halfway through the game. the only asymmetrical games in the paragraph are the ones listed near the end like Dead by Daylight. I figure since you get to play both sides in the other games it doesn't count as asymmetrical since both teams have the same gameplay experience. I don't have experience editing Wikipedia, and i do not want to do it incorrectly, so some guidance would be appreciated. Spelunker2 (talk) 01:48, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Spelunker2: I think you're right about this. The sourcing in that section isn't great: only the article from TheGamer looks both relevant and reliable to me, and it doesn't mention League etc. as being "asymmetric multiplayer". From a quick google search I couldn't find anything describing those games that way, either. Cause you're new I'll give you the full rundown: the main thing here is that information on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable - backed up by reliable sources rather than being completely original research by editors. There is a nice list of what sources about video games the community considers reliable at WP:VG/RS. If you reckon you can rewrite that section to be based on such sources (or just remove the stuff that you can't find any source for), I say go for it! Anyway welcome to Wikipedia! We have like a million backstage policies and help articles (including those I just linked to) but you really don't need to read everything before you start editing, it's just if you want more guidance. Good luck. twotwos (talk) 03:15, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
