Cyrus Javadi (born c. 1977) is an American dentist and politician serving as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives for the 32nd district since January 2023. He was elected as a Republican but changed his party registration to Democrat in 2025. Early life and education[edit]Javadi was born in Provo, Utah, to a mother of Jewish heritage and a father of European descent. His mother converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1970s and relocated from Massachusetts to Utah, where she met his father. Javadi earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Brigham Young University in 2002, and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific in 2005. Dental and professional career[edit]Javadi began practicing dentistry in Astoria, Oregon, after moving to the Oregon Coast in 2008. In 2012, he purchased SandCreek Dental in Tillamook from a retiring local dentist. He continues to operate the clinic as a private general dentistry practice with a focus on rural care. He has served as the Dental Director for the Tillamook County Health Department since 2016. Javadi also served on the Port of Tillamook Bay Commission in 2016 and 2017 and was a trustee for the Oregon Dental Association. Legislative career[edit]Election history[edit]Javadi was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2022, representing the 32nd district. He defeated Democratic opponent Logan Laity with 51.2% of the vote. In 2024, he was re-elected with 52.1%, defeating Andy Davis. Party switch and legislative work[edit]On September 5, 2025, Javadi switched party affiliation to Democrat, citing differences with Republican leadership and alignment with issues affecting his rural district. His vote helped pass a transportation funding package backed by Governor Tina Kotek, making him the only Republican to vote in favor. The switch expanded the Democratic supermajority in the House to 37–23. Javadi supported legislation including:
These votes drew both support and criticism, including a recall petition filed in 2025 by a former supporter. To move forward, the petition required 5,417 valid signatures by September 24, 2025. Personal life[edit]Javadi lives in Tillamook, Oregon, with his wife, Mollie, and their blended family of nine children. He holds a private pilot’s license with an instrument rating and enjoys painting, golf, and playing the piano. He identifies as Jewish.
