GPL Licensed?
[edit]The article claims GPL licensing so I'm searching for evidence that Capcut is GPL-licensed. It seems this couldn't be the case since I don't believe the source code is publicly available anywhere. 184.162.187.76 (talk) 09:58, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
Not "formerly known as" JianYing
[edit]According to this article from Baijing (Chinese-language source, but you can translate it to English), Jianying is a separate app to ViaMaker/CapCut, and is the Chinese equivalent in the same way that Douyin is the Chinese equivalent of TikTok. Googling "what is Jianying" can further confirm that Jianying is a current app in its own right - for example this LinkedIn post talks about Jianying as being "known as CapCut outside of Mainland China". I think that English-language articles that talk about CapCut as having been "originally called" Jianying are confused, because they are separate apps. --Enchantedsleeper (talk) 17:00, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- While some English-language sources have referred to CapCut as being "originally called JianYing," this characterization may be misleading. According to multiple sources, including Chinese-language reports and industry analysis, JianYing (剪映) and CapCut are two separate apps developed by ByteDance, serving different regional markets. JianYing is intended for users in Mainland China, similar to how Douyin operates separately from TikTok. CapCut is the international version designed for users outside of Mainland China. Therefore, describing CapCut as "formerly known as JianYing" does not accurately reflect the relationship between the two apps, which are parallel products tailored for different audiences. Increasing payment for edit tools
[edit]From 2024 and onward, many user complained that CapCut is being 'too greedy' and has made pretty almost everything require 'CapCut Pro' (whatever it is) pack.
Read these posts. Maybe controversial drama also, but worth mentioning it in the article. https://www.reddit.com/r/CapCut/s/ezQGsvASFK https://www.reddit.com/r/CapCut/s/6G2XkiFyAt NguyenDuongThanhDuy (talk) 04:59, 16 July 2025 (UTC)

- @~2026-11075-2: I added a screenshot request to this talk page. It is hard to see on desktop (and even more so on mobile), but you should be able to see a little icon at the top in the WikiProject banners. Also, it will add this article to a category of screenshot requests. Commander Keane (talk) 10:44, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

Islamic education
[edit]A peaceful and inspirational Islamic motivational video. The scene opens with soft golden light and a calm atmosphere. A thoughtful Muslim character is shown reflecting, with gentle facial expressions. Background includes a mosque silhouette, open Qur’an, or a serene natural landscape at dawn. Slow and smooth cinematic camera movement. The mood is spiritual, educational, and motivating. No violence. No music, or very soft instrumental nasheed-style background. Ultra-realistic visuals, 4K quality, cinematic color grading, depth of field, smooth animation, and professional storytelling style. The video inspires faith, patience, knowledge, and positive action. ~2026-44174-2 (talk) 03:16, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- Quick question, are you asking for an AI video to be created or something similar? Asking as this talk page has had a large number of reverted edits and I am wondering if someone is linking to this talk page. --Super Goku V (talk) 03:28, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
Revert
[edit]To explain my changes with policy-based rationales:
- I removed most content relating to AI features due to Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. It was giving undue weight to those features, mostly sourced to CapCut's own website and blogs. Yes, some content was cited to a staff piece by TechCrunch - that is why I added the sentence "CapCut's video editor includes AI-based features such as video and script generation." cited to that source. There is no need to go into much more detail about a specific set of AI features beyond what TechCrunch reports.
- I removed the second paragraph at the top due to Wikipedia:Verifiability. The first source cited, techplayon.com, doesn't seem to list some kind of editorial policy that would make it reliable. As for the second source, TechRadar, I could not verify that "These tools are widely used for creating short-form content on TikTok, YouTube, and other social media platforms." was supported by that source - it does not say it is widely used, nor mentions YouTube in the CapCut section.
