Is a better source needed?

[edit]

@Kazamzam in your first edit of the page you added a "better source needed" tag to the song about zagdun. About the quoted song in question: it is a primary source, the link goes to the original song. About the songs in general: I just checked and this info seems to be in Tomer's article. I have added tomer's citation and removed your tag. If you believe it is still needed, please leave the reason here and add it NorthernWinds (talk) 15:14, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@NorthernWinds - the Tomer citaton should be fine. Please review WP:NOYT for when adding a Youtube link as a citation is appropriate. That tag is a request for a better source, not dismissing the primary (but user-generated) source altogether. I hope this clarifies. Best, Kazamzam (talk) 15:25, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Kazamzam Thank you for clearing that up and help improve this article. Yours, NorthernWinds (talk) 20:59, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Born in France or Tunisia?

[edit]

While working on page-specific inline citations I noticed Garb's book says he was born in France, while Tomer's article says he was born in Tunis. If I had to choose a source to believe to it would be Tomer's work, since he focuses more on the story of Zagduns' journey, while Garb talks about Zagdun's teachings. Only issue is that Garb's work was translated and published in English in Yale while Tomer's article was published by a lesser known Jerusalem newspaper. Which source should we cite here? NorthernWinds (talk) 14:16, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

a. On a closer look, "Persico's" source is not Perisico's: It's by Shlomo Buchnik and Persico is quoted (only) near its end.
b. Regardless, this article include direct quotes in the 1st person (among other sources). It looks like it is based on an interview with Zagdun?
c. The bit about Tunisia is in such quote, so I take it to be Zagdun's testimony, and so inclined to believe it.

I wouldn't say zagdun is a reliable source. but it is best we have sooo... should we say something about the reliability of info coming from him? NorthernWinds (talk) 14:26, 23 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
