CU blocks

[edit]

Right now there is an annoying message on WP:SPI about how there are 10 requests for CU help in the UTRS interface.

How does one go about helping on UTRS? When I looked last (as documented at User talk:Izno#UTRS appeal #100071), I did not see a way to provide assistance and it seemed there was some confusion around how to gain access to the "tools" as it were on UTRS. Izno (talk) 17:13, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Developer email

[edit]

@AmandaNP, @TParis: I tried emailing utrs-developers@googlegroups.com, as specified at https://github.com/UTRS2/utrs/security/policy, regarding a bug report that contains private information, but that got bounced back with an "email account that you tried to reach does not exist" message. Is there a better way to submit a private bug report? --Ahecht (TALK

@Ahecht: Hey, feel free to email it to be using the wikipedia email this user button and I'll see what I can do about it.--v/r - TP 03:59, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@TParis AmandaNP answered my question last week. Thanks! --Ahecht (TALK

Temporary accounts

[edit]

Right now, UTRS does not have any direct support for temporary accounts. Given that these accounts are temporary in nature, what level of support should it have? I fear that it would increase the overall nature of the crap we get there, and I wanted to get your thoughts. -- Amanda (she/her) 23:15, 14 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Rename

[edit]

Hi, my account was renamed from 0xDeadbeef, and now I'm unable to view the UTRS appeals. My user ID on utrs is 4814. Could anyone help here? dbeef [talk] 04:16, 27 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Can we change the template?

[edit]

This is clunky:

"Please note that there could be appeals to the Unblock Ticket Request System that have been declined leading to the posting of this notice."

Can we change it to:

“This notice may have been posted because appeals to the Unblock Ticket Request System were declined.”

Can you link the template you are referencing?--v/r - TP 00:46, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Probably Template:Blocked talk-revoked-notice. –Novem Linguae (talk) 03:38, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I guess the language is better than what is there already, but I would suggest that @Dreameditsbrooklyn: make the request on that template's talk page as a protected edit request.--v/r - TP 03:45, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I went to go make the edit just now, but decided that I like the old wording better. I feel the new wording more strongly suggests that TPA was revoked because of UTRS, whereas the old wording merely states that it's a possibility that TPA was revoked because of UTRS. So I must mildly oppose this proposal.
I do still think the existing wording needs improvement though. Why would someone who hasn't had TPA revoked be using UTRS in the first place? Would be good to explain that. –Novem Linguae (talk) 04:36, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes there are underlying IP blocks that aren't on the account but do have "block accounts from this IP" checked. Usually proxies. Not that that is relevant to the template, but to answer your question.--v/r - TP 05:29, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
