An X-tail, or X tail is a type of aircraft tail configuration which comprises of four distinct tail surfaces. Only a few aircraft have, or would've had, an X tail, most being VTOL tail sitters, such as the experimental Lockheed XFV and the unbuilt Focke-Wulf Triebflügel. The X-tail configuration is very uncommon amongst aircraft, and as of 2024, no production aircraft have an X-tail.
