Draft:T-12 medium tank

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The T-12 was the Soviet Union's first indigenous medium tank prototype, developed in the late 1920s as an evolution of the T-18 light tank. Designed to bridge the gap between light and heavy tanks, the T-12 featured a larger chassis and a more powerful engine compared to its predecessors. However, it suffered from significant mechanical issues, particularly with its transmission, which led to its failure during trials. Consequently, the T-12 did not enter mass production, and only a single prototype was built. The lessons learned from the T-12's development informed subsequent Soviet tank designs, notably the T-24 medium tank.
