GigaNet, or the Global Internet Governance Academic Network, is a learned society dedicated to the study of internet governance, this field studies the . The organization was founded in 2006[1] after activists[2] and researchers met during the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), which was held between 2003-2005. This coincided with the formal establishment of internet governance organizations, such as the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers, which were the focus of study of the researchers. The global Internet Governance Forum is where is the association's annual symposium is held.
Activities

- Hosting an mailinglist with roughly 400 members
- Hosting an open-source repository of syllabi related to internet governance [3]
- Organizing workshops, such as on Internet Standard Setting Research Methods
