fal.ai is a generative artificial intelligence company providing developers with API access and serverless GPU infrastructure to hundreds[1] of production-ready models for image, video, audio, and 3D generation.

fal works with leading generative model companies including Black Forest Labs, Google, ByteDance, and OpenAI.[2]

fal has raised over US$190 million in venture capital, including a US$49 million Series B round[3] and a US$125 million Series C round[4], both occurring in 2025. Investors in fal include Andreessen Horowitz, Google, Bessemer Venture Partners, Salesforce Ventures, Shopify, and First Round Capital.[5] According to TechCrunch, fal was one of 33 artificial intelligence startups based in the U.S. that raised over US$100 million in 2025.[6] fal customers include Adobe[7], Canva, Perplexity, and Shopify.[8]

History

[edit]

fal was founded in 2021 by Turkish engineers Burkay Gur and Gorkem Yurtseven. In a 2025 interview, Gur told Fortune, "We made an early bet to position ourselves as just focusing on generative media as opposed to many others who were very excited about LLMs. We basically left the LLMs behind, and specialized in image, video, and audio-type models."[9]

By September 2024, fal eclipsed 500,000 developers on the platform, generating over 50 million images, videos, or audio streams per day.[10] By February 2025, the platform was servicing over 100 million requests per day.[11]

Products

[edit]

According to Google AI, fal offers "the infrastructure and essential building blocks developers need to build with generative AI, simplifying integration and deployment."[12]

According to the fal website[13], the company has three main products:

fal focuses exclusively on media generation rather than language models and operates on a pay as you go pricing model.[14] The company deploys specialized inference engines to reduce latency and improve GPU utilization.

In an interview with Google AI, fal co-founder Burkay Gur stated that the company's mission is to "provide developers with the ultimate platform for the generative media revolution."[15]
