DogBase is a business-to-business software platform designed for the management, training, and performance tracking of professional working dogs. The platform is used by organizations involved in search and rescue (SAR), law enforcement, military, service dog programs, and other professional K9 operations.[1] DogBase integrates digital logging, analytics, and artificial intelligence–based tools to support training documentation, operational oversight, and canine health management.[2]

Overview

[edit]

DogBase was developed to address inefficiencies in professional working dog training and documentation, particularly the reliance on paper records, spreadsheets, and fragmented digital tools. The platform provides a centralized system for logging training sessions, tracking operational activity, and managing health and performance data across individual dogs and teams.

The software is designed for use across multiple devices, allowing handlers and trainers to record data in the field and review reports through desktop or mobile interfaces.

Features

[edit]

DogBase includes functionality intended to support training consistency, oversight, and long-term performance analysis:

  • Digital logging – Structured recording of training sessions and operational activities via mobile or desktop devices.
  • Performance tracking – Analytics and reports covering training volume, outcomes, and historical trends.
  • Artificial intelligence tools – Automated summaries and data-driven insights generated from logged training and operational data.[2]
  • Health and medical records – Tracking of vaccinations, medications, veterinary visits, and wellness information.
  • Team and program management – Support for organizations managing multiple dogs, handlers, and locations.

Applications

[edit]

DogBase is used across a range of professional working dog disciplines, including:

  • Search and rescue (SAR)
  • Law enforcement and police K9 units
  • Military working dogs
  • Explosive and narcotics detection
  • Service and assistance dog programs
  • Competitive and professional dog sports

The platform is intended to support documentation, compliance, and operational readiness across these domains.

Company history

[edit]

DogBase was founded in 2023 by Almog Koren and Lincoln Rychecky.[3] The company was established to apply modern software and data analysis techniques to professional working dog training and operations.

Koren's background as a search-and-rescue K9 handler and software engineer informed the platform's focus on practical field use, while Rychecky's experience in backend engineering, artificial intelligence, and large-scale data systems shaped the technical architecture of the platform.

Founders

[edit]

Almog Koren is a software engineer and search-and-rescue K9 handler. His experience in professional dog training and operational deployments influenced the development of DogBase's training and documentation workflows.

Lincoln Rychecky is a backend engineer and serves as co-founder and chief technology officer of DogBase. He holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Colorado and specializes in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and large-scale data systems. At DogBase, he oversees platform architecture and the application of data-driven and AI-based analysis tools.

Media and recognition

[edit]

DogBase has been featured in industry publications and has presented at professional conferences related to law enforcement, border security, and working dog operations.[4][5] The company has appeared in Police K-9 Magazine[6] and participated in events such as the World Police Summit[7] and international police K9 conferences. The platform has also been utilized by organizations such as Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency.[8]

Technology and data approach

[edit]

DogBase emphasizes structured data collection and analytics to support objective evaluation of training and operational performance. The platform applies machine learning techniques to identify trends, patterns, and workload indicators across training and operational data.

According to the company, users retain ownership of their data, and training records are not sold or monetized.
