Comment: I checked sources and most of them only have a name-drop, which is not sufficient (e.g. #2, 11, 15). If an article is not *primarily* or *significantly* about the subject, it does not support notability. It is better to go with a few good references than a bunch of mere mentions. You shouldn't cite self-published sources (#23) nor sales sites (iTunes). You can't include sources in which he is not even mentioned (the NY Times article). Andre Lett (born November 28, 1973), better known by his stage name.[1]D.R.E.S tha BEATnik , is an American hip hop recording artist, actor, professional Master of ceremonies and the 2000 Amateur World Beatbox Champions from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Biography
[edit]Andre Lett aka D.R.E.S tha BEATnik was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The nickname D.R.E.S is an acronym for (Divine Real Essence of Sound). He currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia and is very active and well respected[2] in the Atlanta music scene. He moved to Atlanta to attend Clark University, and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Temple University in Marketing. He is a well respected and talented artist that has been honored for his craft. His talent as a Beatbox artist won him the title of Amateur World Beatbox Champions in 2000[3]. Voted 'Best Vocalist' in 2002 for Creative Lofting[4]. As a professional master of ceremonies or event HOST, the Creative loafing in 2015 voted him 'Best ATL Hip-Hop event host[5]. For more than 12 years D.R.E.S tha BEATnik promoted and hosted a weekly Hip Hop showcase event named 'MIC CLUB' in Atlanta, GA. 'Mic Club' was voted 'Best Club Event in 2007 by Creative Loafing, in the 'Best After Hours/Late Night' category[6]. Mic Club and D.R.E.S was also featured in the 2002 documentary Beef (film)[7]
His trademark 'HAT' is what most people notice about him, even having it's own hashtag '#FOLLOWTHEHAT'. It is interesting to note that an original oil painting by Atlanta based artist Corey Whitehead of D.R.E.S tha BEATnik[8] can be seen hanging on the wall of the barbershop in Tyler Perry's House of Payne television show that airs on TBS (U.S. TV channel).
As a spokesperson[9] for Greater than Aids via Kaiser Family Foundation Greater than Aids awareness initiative he [10]toured across the country using his musical and MC talents to talk to people about his Life experiences dealing with People that were/are affected with AIDS/HIV.
D.R.E.S was the winner of the SCION HYPEMAN competition in 2007[11] and was named the The NUMBER ONE Live Show Host in The U.S. The National Competition was sponsored by SCION.Other winners of this competition include: Flula Borg from the film Pitch Perfect 2
Music Career
[edit]His first solo album 'Have Mic...Will Travel: Live Experience' was released in 2001[12]. The project features artist Slick & Rose and Anthony David. He teamed up with Anthony David (singer) again on the song 'ATL Sunshine' on Anthony's 2006 release 'The Red Clay Chronicles'.

Acting
[edit]In 2011, D.R.E.S tha BEATnik made his acting debut in the Lionsgate film ‘STEP OFF’. Playing Mighty Mouth, the MC/Host of an underground beat makers battle. In 2008 he was in DO It! a documentary following indie hip hop artist 'Quanstar' on his day to day journey to success In 2003 D.R.E.S tha BEATnik played himself in 3 episodes of the TV show Interscope Presents: The Next Episode that showed on SHOWTIME.
