Advans is an international microfinance group based in Luxembourg and founded in 2005.
The group was created by Horus Development Finance, a consultancy firm specializing in financial inclusion, with the goal of expanding access to credit and savings services for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in contexts where access to banking services is limited.[1]
Advans began its presence in Africa with the creation of subsidiaries such as Advans Tunisie and Advans Nigeria, after acquiring the necessary authorizations in these countries.[2][3] Its development has been studied in academic publications, which place it within a more general trend of transforming microfinance institutions into regulated structures, combining public and private funding.[4][1]
Advans has also received funding from development players, such as the Dutch bank FMO, which has supported several of the group's projects as part of its financial inclusion initiatives.[5]
