殺出一片天

殺出一片天(make one's bones)是美式英語中的慣用語,意為闖出名號。[1]與習慣用法中的「夠格」(establish[ing] one's bona fides英语bona fides)一詞同義。[2]

此詞雖似起於美國黑道[2][3]但其用法後來逐漸變得更流行,沒那麼殺氣騰騰,[4][5][6][7]可用在各行各業上,包括執法人員[8]法界人士[9][10]記者[11]

用於流行文化中

這句習慣用語因1969年的小說《教父》及其1972年的電影改編而廣為流傳。例如桑尼說:“我十九歲的時候就‘殺出一片天’了,那是家裡前一次還打打殺殺的時候”;以及莫·格林說:“我是莫·格林!我殺出一片天的時候你還在約啦啦隊出門!”[12]這句話中也在《黑道家族》中出現過幾次。正如這些例子所示,在黑道用法中,這句話指的是殺人立威。[2]
