Neuigkeiten für Autoren
- Das Bearbeitungsteam arbeitet an einer neuen Bearbeitungsprüfung: Pfauen-Prüfung. Ziel dieser Prüfung ist es, nicht-neutrale Begriffe zu identifizieren, während ein Benutzer eine Wiki-Seite bearbeitet, um ihn darauf hinzuweisen, dass seine Bearbeitung vor der Veröffentlichung möglicherweise geändert werden sollte. Dieses Projekt befindet sich noch in der Anfangsphase, und das Team ist auf den Input der Community angewiesen: In diesem Phabricator-Task sammelt das Team On-Wiki-Richtlinien, Vorlagen zum Markieren nicht-neutraler Artikel und die in Bearbeitungszusammenfassungen verwendeten Begriffe (Jargon und Schlüsselwörter) für die aktuell untersuchten Sprachen. Du kannst dich beteiligen, indem du die Tabelle im Phabricator bearbeitest, im Task kommentierst oder Trizek (WMF) direkt eine Nachricht sendest.
- Das Single User Login wurde nun in allen Wikis aktualisiert, um die Anmeldung und Kontoerstellung auf eine zentrale Domäne zu verlagern. Dadurch ist die Benutzeranmeldung mit den Browserbeschränkungen für domänenübergreifende Cookies kompatibel, die Benutzer einiger Browser daran hinderten, angemeldet zu bleiben.

Neuigkeiten für technisch Beitragende
- Ab dem 31. März veröffentlicht das Team MediaWiki-Schnittstellen eine begrenzte Anzahl generierter OpenAPI-Spezifikationen und eine SwaggerUI-basierte Spielwiese für MediaWiki-REST-APIs. Entwickler aus einer begrenzten Gruppe nicht-englischsprachiger Wikipedia-Communitys (Arabisch, Deutsch, Französisch, Hebräisch, Interlingua, Niederländisch, Chinesisch) können die Dokumentation lesen und die Spielwiese in ihrer bevorzugten Sprache ausprobieren. Zusätzlich zu diesen spezifischen Wikipedia-Projekten werden die Spielwiese und die OpenAPI-Spezifikationen auf der Spezialseite REST-Spielwiese im Test-Wiki für Entwickler mit Englisch als bevorzugter Sprache verfügbar sein. Während der Vorschauphase lädt das Team MediaWiki-Schnittstellen Entwickler außerdem dazu ein, Rückmeldung zu ihren Erfahrungen zu geben. Die Vorschauphase dauert etwa zwei Wochen. Danach werden die Spielwiese und die OpenAPI-Spezifikationen für alle Wiki-Projekte verfügbar gemacht.

In der Tiefe
- Manchmal kann eine kleine einzeilige Codeänderung große Bedeutung haben: In diesem Fall bedeutet sie, dass wir zum ersten Mal seit Jahren den gesamten Stack, der maps.wikimedia.org bedient – einen Host für unsere Wikis und deren mehrsprachigen Karten – von einem einzigen Rechenzentrum aus betreiben können. Dies testen wir bei jedem Wechsel des Rechenzentrums. Das ist wichtig, denn es bedeutet, dass wir die Site auch dann noch bedienen können, wenn eines unserer Rechenzentren von einer Katastrophe betroffen ist. Diese Änderung ist das Ergebnis der umfangreichen Arbeit zweier Entwickler, die die letzte Komponente des Karten-Stacks auf Kubernetes portiert haben. Dort können wir Ressourcen effizienter als zuvor verteilen und so mehr Datenverkehr in einem einzigen Rechenzentrum bewältigen. Diese Arbeit erforderte viele komplizierte Schritte, da diese Software und die von ihr verwendeten Softwarebibliotheken viele längst überfällige Upgrades erforderten. Diese Art von Arbeit macht die Wikimedia-Infrastruktur nachhaltiger.

- Der Workshop für MediaWiki-Benutzer und -Entwickler im Frühjahr 2025 findet vom 14. bis 16. Mai 2025 in Sandusky, USA, und online statt. Der Workshop bietet Diskussionen rund um die Nutzung von MediaWiki-Software in Unternehmen verschiedener Branchen und soll neue Nutzer inspirieren und einbinden. An earthquake affected Myanmar on 5 May 1930 with a moment magnitude (Mw ) 7.4. The shock occurred 35 km (22 mi) beneath the surface with a maximum Rossi–Forel intensity of IX (Devastating tremor). The earthquake was the result of rupture along a 131 km (81 mi) segment of the Sagaing Fault—a major strike-slip fault that runs through the country. Extensive damage was reported in the southern part of the country, particularly in Bago and Yangon, where buildings collapsed and fires erupted. At least 550, and possibly up to 7,000 people were killed. A moderate tsunami struck the Burmese coast which caused minor damage to ships and a port. It was felt for over 570,000 km2 (220,000 sq mi) and as far as Shan State and Thailand. The mainshock was followed by many aftershocks; several were damaging. The December earthquake was similarly sized which also occurred along the Sagaing Fault.
