Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Kingdom of Kumaon (currently a redirect to Kumaon Kingdom) → Kumaon Kingdom (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME — Hemant Dabral (📞 • ✒) 03:09, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- José María Calatrava y Peinado (currently a redirect to José María Calatrava) → José María Calatrava (move · discuss) – COMMONNAME per refs, see Spanish Wiki Ortizesp (talk) 14:06, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Bulang people → Blang people (currently a redirect back to Bulang people) (move · discuss) – 'Blang' is the endonym of the ethnicity. 'Bulang' is an exonym rendition of Chinese language. It would be unfair to the ethnicity to use a variant of its exonyms. Their language, Blang language also uses Blang not Bulang. Chainwit. (talk) 09:15, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Drury Ministry (currently a redirect to Drury ministry) → Drury ministry (move · discuss) – make sentence case WP:AT Legend of 14 (talk) 02:07, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ch'oe Manli (currently a redirect to Ch'oe Malli) → Ch'oe Malli (move · discuss) – Incorrect application of McCune–Reischauer romanization of Korean for this person's name; names are supposed to be assimilated. For proof, see this template which generates an automatic romanization: Korean: 최만리; MR: Ch'oe Malli. grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 08:10, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Mekuti (currently a redirect to Mae Ku) → Mae Ku (move · discuss) – Moved to original name according to the Chiang Mai Chronicle Inner789 (talk) 10:11, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Cathedral of Our Lady (Antwerp) → Cathedral of Our Lady, Antwerp (currently a redirect back to Cathedral of Our Lady (Antwerp)) (move · discuss) – Removing brackets, as per WP:COMMADIS Jason Lagos (talk) 18:59, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- Fyrstadskretsen (Riksdag constituency) (currently a redirect to Fyrstadskretsen) → Fyrstadskretsen (move · discuss) – No other meaning present for this constituency situated within Malmöhus County. Redirect created in 2010, article in 2020. Kaffet i halsen (talk) 19:14, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- Sikkimese Bhutia language → Bhutia language (currently a redirect back to Sikkimese Bhutia language) (move · discuss) – "Bhutia language" is the WP:COMMONNAME for the language—it's not often called "Sikkimese Bhutia language", just "Bhutia language" or "Sikkimese language". In addition, there's no other Bhutia language, so no need to disambiguate; this is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for that title. Ookap (talk) 19:32, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- ß → ẞ (currently a redirect back to ß) (move · discuss) – Letter case to capital, per MOS:AT HouseLiving roomDIY Fixings 22:23, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ernest Charles Drury (currently a redirect to Ernest C. Drury) → Ernest Drury (currently a redirect back to Ernest Charles Drury) (move · discuss) – WP:CONCISE Legend of 14 (talk) 00:45, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- It appears that he used "Ernest C. Drury" during his political career, and that is used at goverment historical sites (e.g. [1]) and on the current school named in his honor (Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf). That should probably be the title of the article, which would be acceptable under WP:MIDDLE. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 16:20, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- Helmeted guineafowl (currently a redirect to Helmeted guinea fowl) → Helmeted guinea fowl (move · discuss) – The 'two word' name is much more WP:COMMONNAME than the concatenated name. See: [2] Cinderella157 (talk) 01:11, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- Baṛī ye → Bari ye (currently a redirect back to Baṛī ye) (move · discuss) – WP:TSC. — Ö S M A N (talk · contribs) 06:03, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- Order for Lifelong Restriction (currently a redirect to Order for lifelong restriction) → Order for lifelong restriction (move · discuss) – Use sentence case per MOS:AT. The source legislation uses sentence case. Hairy Dude (talk) 14:36, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Mohammed al-sadr (currently a redirect to Muhammad al-Sadr (jurist)) → Muhammad al-Sadr (currently a redirect instead to Mohammed Hassan al-sadr) (move · discuss) – Name is both misspelled and uncapitalized BurimKazimi (talk) 21:16, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- The proposed title is a primary redirect to a different article. Revert back to Muhammad al-Sadr (jurist), the longstanding stable title. 162 etc. (talk) 22:04, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- The Art of Personal Chaos concerts (currently a redirect to Mayhem promotional concerts) → Mayhem promotional concerts (move · discuss) – Revert back to previous title. This significant article name change was performed without any prior move discussion or consensus, and has already been contested by two users at Talk:The Art of Personal Chaos concerts#Requested move 25 May 2025. TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 19:40, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- #Requests to revert undiscussed moves seems like the appropriate place for this. Legend of 14 (talk) 19:42, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- Got it. Thank you! TenthAvenueFreezeOut (talk) 19:44, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- Black-and-white (currently a redirect to Black and white) → Black and white (move · discuss) – Article titles should be nouns and not adjectives per WP:NOUN. American Heritage Dictionary lists the hyphenated version as the adjective spelling and the hyphenless version as the noun spelling. Merriam-Webster lists the hyphenated version as an adjective and the hyphenless version as a noun with the meaning described in the article (though the hyphenated version is listed as a synonym for "squad car"). Most of the data on OED is paywalled, but the page title has no hyphens and is listed as both adjective and noun. Literally Satan (talk) 03:36, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Literally Satan This reverts a 2023 move by @InfiniteNexus that appears undiscussed? Bensci54 (talk) 16:35, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- I had trouble figuring out the move history so if it belongs in this section rather than the one I put it in then so be it. I continue to request the move for the reasons stated above. -Literally Satan (talk) 04:52, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Literally Satan This reverts a 2023 move by @InfiniteNexus that appears undiscussed? Bensci54 (talk) 16:35, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Title has been in place for two years, disqualifying it as an auto undo of an undiscussed move. However, consider this just as a just regular new technical request, seemingly in line with the naming policy WP:NOUN over a hyphenated adjective. —Bagumba (talk) 12:37, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Bagumba: Where is this policy or guideline declaring that two years is too long to qualify as a "reversion of an undiscussed move"? NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player had an undiscussed move reverted more than five years afterwards. Left guide (talk) 18:15, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- WP:TITLECHANGES. YMMV. But it seems moot, as I'm proposing to avoid WP:BURO and just process this as a policy-based technical request. —Bagumba (talk) 18:44, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- Mattie Mitchell → Matty Mitchell (move · discuss) – earliest writings and references of Matty Mitchell were spelled Matty, it's the more original shortening / nickname of his full name Matthieu Michel, it's what he has been known as and spelled for most of the recorded history on him — Preceding unsigned comment added by BuchansHeritage (talk • contribs) 18:19, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- It appears that both spellings were used during his lifeltime, probably due to careless translation. But "Mattie" appears on currently his in-print biography [3], and (most importantly) his government-sanctioned historic site [4]. I recommend leaving the article as-is and adding some text on how his first name is spelled differently in some sources. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:58, 27 May 2025 (UTC
- American Communist Party (Haz Al-Din) (currently a redirect to Haz Al-Din) → American Communist Party (currently a redirect instead to Communist Party USA) (move · discuss) – WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, sole political party with that name. AimanAbir18plus (talk) 10:28, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- Grazing antelope → Hippotragini (currently a redirect back to Grazing antelope) (move · discuss) – "grazing antelope" is very ambiguous and does not seem to be widely used as a specific name for this group of antelopes. Hippotragini seems slightly more common than Hippotraginae over the last 15 years according to scholar [5] [6] Hemiauchenia (talk) 01:28, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- This is not an uncontroversial technical request. See WP:PCM. 162 etc. (talk) 21:53, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- Mohamed Saeed (Maldivian politician) → Mohamed Saeed (currently a redirect instead to Mohammed Said) (move · discuss) – Adding "(Maldivian politician)" to the end is weird and the target title I'm trying to move it to fits the article better Unilandofma(Talk to me!) 09:36, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- There are two cricketers with the same name listed at Mohammed Said. A full discussion is needed to make a primary topic grab. older ≠ wiser 11:49, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- The two cricketers you mentioned have their names as "Mohammad Saeed" while the person I'm talking about has his name as "Mohamed Saeed". Unilandofma(Talk to me!) 16:42, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- And you don't think that is easily confused? I think some discussion and consensus would help to establish whether there is a primary topic for that spelling variant. older ≠ wiser 12:46, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- Although both their names sound familiar, the titles are already distinct enough that a reader will be able to distinguish both of them. The cricketers you mentioned both have the year that they were born on in the article which clearly distinguishes both the articles to avoid confusion. I agree some discussion would help to establish a consensus. UnilandofmaTalk 11:22, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Mohamed/Mohammed/Muhammad etc. are often inconsistently transliterated. Agree here with User:Bkonrad that this is insufficient disambiguation. 162 etc. (talk) 20:24, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

- WWE Evolution → WWE Evolution (2018) (move · discuss) – professional wrestling event chronology YeedyYaada (talk) 08:26, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
