Help:IPA/Albanian

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 188.217.55.145 (talk) at 23:39, 3 September 2024 (I changed the phonetic symbol for "r" in Albanian. I am a graduate Linguistics student with Albanian as my native language and English as my L2. "r" as the symbol for the phoneme R in Albanian is not accurate. It represents the letter "Rr" in Albanian but not the letter "R". These two letters are not allophones of each other, but are two different phonemes and therefore cannot possibly have the same phonetic representation.). 1. ^ The contrast between flapped r and trilled rr is the same as in Spanish. English does not phonemically have either sound.
  2. ^ The letter ⟨ç⟩ is sometimes written ⟨ch⟩ due to technical limitations or because of its use in English for the same sound and its analogy to the other digraphs ⟨xh⟩, ⟨sh⟩, and ⟨zh⟩. Usually, it is written simply ⟨c⟩ or, more rarely, ⟨q⟩, with the context resolving any ambiguities.
