== Jeff G. had no right to delete public domain pictures, especially in the dark of night with zero discussion == |
|||
This is a LOUSY WAY TO THREAT A NEW USER |
|||
I got an account the day before yesterday. My specific purpose was to post pictures for the Historic Places contest. |
|||
I wake up this morning to find someone marked some for deletion. I can't figure out how to comment or discuss, being brand new. I wanted to discuss the matter. |
|||
But Jeff G. moves quickly, and my pictures were already deleted. Within hours, while I was sleeping. I did not get a chance to defend my work. |
|||
I could not figure out how to respond when the email said to go there to "discuss." Link: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Largely_Forgotten |
|||
I didn't know how to comment there, so I thought I'd comment on the picture directly, to explain why Jeff. G. was DEAD WRONG about the copyright. |
|||
So I went to the page with my uploads, to find the pictures and put an explanation there. |
|||
THESE WORKS OF ART ARE PUBLIC DOMAIN |
|||
The Post Office Murals are found all over the country. They were placed in newly built post offices, and already existing post offices. The work was paid for by taxpayer monies and were public domain from the first day they were created. |
|||
The objection that the artist only died in 1962 is simply wrong. And I have been treated poorly that they were removed without even having a chance to discuss it. |
|||
I don't know how to comment on the notice that was sent to me by an algorithm. And I don't know any way to to send a message to Jeff G. who played executioner without so much as a single appeal. |
|||
Jeff G., why don't you come out of the shadows and defend yourself for killing my photos of public domain artwork. Created by government jobs program during the Great Depression. |
|||
Jeff G., you are ignorant on this point. I do not appreciate my work being vanquished during the dark of night. |
|||
Jeff G., I do not appreciate not having a chance to defend myself. |
|||
Jeff G., you were DEAD WRONG to delete pictures that are in the public domain. |
|||
Jeff G., how about having the decency to have a little discussion about this before you eliminated my contributions. |
|||
Jeff G., it's a lousy way to treat anyone. Inexcusable with a brand new user. |
|||
Jeff G., just because I am a new user, it does not mean you know better than me. |
|||
Jeff G., I could call you out in big letters right here if I knew how. |
|||
Jeff G., you owe me an apology and those pictures should be undeleted. |

My name is [...]
My name is Jorge Washington Rodriguez "Passive Homosexual" and I believe that trying to shows myself as a gay man posting pics here in Commons, apparently all goes wrong and failed, because everything that I submit sadly is for deletion. I do not had any "Evil intention" or purposely posted my pics to "disrespect anyone in Commons" or anybody else. I would like to apologize with Commons and ask to show me how to deleting my pics. I do not have any "evil intentions" or wants purposely disrespect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jorge W Rodriguez "Passive Homosexual" (talk • contribs) 00:12, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
- Signing your posts is required on talk pages and it is a Commons policy to sign your posts on deletion requests, undeletion requests, and noticeboards. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and a timestamp will then automatically be added when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nat (talk • contribs) 01:24, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
Help in rotating an image
Hello,
I have tried the rotate template over and over (variations of it) but I am not successful with File:- panoramio (4488).jpg. What is the secret sauce? Help would be appreciated! Thanks, Krok6kola (talk) 00:03, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Krok6kola: It looks correctly oriented to me; you may have a caching problem, but I doubt you want to rotate this further. - Jmabel ! talk 16:08, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Jmabel: Thanks! (It rotated in the meantime, so no further rotation is needed.) Krok6kola (talk) 18:15, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
Can I upload a logo if the official site puts it in the download section but doesn't provide any copyrights information?
On this page, the host says it's free download for the media but it does not gives any clue on the license of these images. Can I upload it to Commons? Tashi (talk) 15:35, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, Tashi. If the license it's not explicit, we assume that the work it's copyrighted. Regards. --Ganímedes (talk) 15:45, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Help in uploading logo of school
I want to upload the logo of a school to its wikipedia article provided in the school website. But I'm not sure whether it would violate any copyright.
Please help me with that and please mention the correct logo format (jpg or png or any other). G C Dey (talk) 09:02, 24 September 2020 (UTC)G C Dey
- @G C Dey: Typically, unless the school has had the logo for well over a century, the logo of a school would be copyrighted and Commons would need permission of the copyright-holder. However, if the purpose of this is for an article on the English-language Wikipedia, you can handle this entirely on the English-language Wikipedia using en:Template:Non-free logo, and leave Commons out of it. - Jmabel ! talk 15:29, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

Hi there. I uploaded today an image (a photograph taken a few days ago) "Kirche Maisprach,jpg" to Wikimedia Commons, using the Wizard. Image size = 2’651’919 Bytes, 3754 x 2814 px. Improving attribution for uploaded modification of Wikimedia cricket picture
I uploaded File:Batsmen's ground example.png, which is a modified form of File:Muralitharan bowling to Adam Gilchrist.jpg.

Question about images
I am practicing in my user sandbox, preparing to create a church history page. My questions:
1) Can the work I do in the sandbox easily translate to a true Wiki article for publishing, or will I have to re-create everything in an actual article page? 2) I would like to include organizational affiliation status in my Infobox. I used Template: Infobox Church, and added three fields (local affiliation, state affiliation, national affiliation). How can I ensure these fields with added information will be part of my InfoBox? 3) I read the requirements regarding uploading photos. When permission is granted from the church to use a photo and logo, in what format does Wikipedia Commons need, and where does the approval need to be submitted?
Thank you for your help.
22:20, 25 September 2020 (UTC)SCBC2940
- @SCBC2940: Hi, and welcome. The reviewer who accepts your submitted article will move your sandbox to articlespace, making the cats live. Affiliation status in the infobox at that time will transfer over intact. Please note that en:Template:Infobox church does not support fields like "State Affiliation", "Local Affiliation", and "National Affiliation" (yet), so please include such information in prose. Also, please note that you shouldn't have to use that template multiple times on a page. In addition, please review en:WP:MFA and en:WP:COI. Finally, please have authorized church officials see OTRS re photos. In your signature, please link your username to your userpage or user talk page, and separate it from and precede the date and time per COM:SIGN. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 22:30, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
Australian Commons License on image upload
I am using the Upload wizard and would prefer to use an Australian Commons License - can this be edited after upload or is there some other way of accessing it
cheers PerthDeco (talk) 04:44, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
- @PerthDeco: Hi, and welcome. We only have one recommended Australia-specific Creative Commons license template, {{Cc-by-3.0-au}}. Templates {{Cc-by-4.0}} and {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}} are international and the associated deeds take Australian law into account. You may adjust your licensing shortly after uploading by editing a file description page. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 11:41, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
Civil Rights Leader/US Army Chaplain (Major)Rev. Richard Charles Boone
I have attempted to upload pictures from my personal file and from State of Alabama Archives. I have tried to write a wikipedia page for Rev. Richard C. Boone. Why is this so difficult? Is there any way to employ an expert from Wikipedia to write and set this page up. It should be a part of this media.
Please reach out to me and assist me with this feat.
Thank you,
Mary Gambles Boone The Committee to Remember the Life and Legacy of Rev. Richard C. Boone — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maryofmontgomery2 (talk • contribs) 08:15, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Maryofmontgomery2: As I wrote to you on 22 August about the first photo, "[i]f you did not take the photo, please see Commons:Licensing for why we can't accept it, and have the photographer post Commons:Licensing compliant permission for such work on their website or social media presence or send the photo and permission via OTRS with a carbon copy to you." That applies to each of the photos you uploaded. Where did you get them? Can you get permission from the photographers or their heirs? If not, and the subjects are deceased, once your article is in mainspace you may follow en:WP:F to upload them locally on English Wikipedia because we don't allow Fair Use here. Also, please read and follow en:WP:COI and en:WP:MFA. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 11:26, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
Wanted to replace image without losing the old one, but it didn't work as planned.
The file Alaska boroughs and census areas.svg was out of date, so I created a new version. Rather than just overwrite the old one, I renamed it to File:Alaska boroughs and census areas 2013-19.svg. Then when I tried to upload the new version, I intended to give it the same name as the old one so that all the articles would automatically have the updated map. However, it seems that I cannot do that, and the file now sits at File:Alaska boroughs and census areas.svg.svg. --Lasunncty (talk) 10:41, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
- Existing redirect prevents new uploads. Ruslik0 (talk) 13:50, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
- Would an Admin please help with that? — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 22:57, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
- Last time I acceded to a request like this I was practically torn a new hole in my body. Apparently, if I delete the redirect, it is likely that all sister-project references to that redirect will begin to be deleted. @Lasunncty: May I suggest:
- Rename the poorly named File:Alaska boroughs and census areas.svg.svg to File:Alaska boroughs and census areas 2020.svg.
- Edit the redirect at File:Alaska boroughs and census areas.svg to point to File:Alaska boroughs and census areas 2020.svg.
- It is actually a cleaner solution. If/when we have to upload an update again, we just change that upload and change the redirect again. File:Alaska boroughs and census areas.svg stays cleanly a redirect to whatever is current and can be expected to change over time; the others each have a date attached and can be accessed when someone wants a specific dated version. - Jmabel ! talk 23:53, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for the suggestion. I will attempt this solution. --Lasunncty (talk) 07:23, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- (Although I will use Alaska boroughs and census areas 2019.svg since that is when this map first became effective.) --07:28, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for the suggestion. I will attempt this solution. --Lasunncty (talk) 07:23, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Category:Historical images of XXX in Taiwan
In the past two years, I have found that such people (especially users from Taiwan) to misuse "Category:Historical images of temples in Taiwan" as the category page for temples. For example, add a category tag to an already existing temple category page: special:diff/439494050. Also, the same problem also exists in the category "Historical images of shinto shrines in Taiwan" (see: special:diff/439056338). I know that different people may misuse the category "Historical images of XXX in Taiwan" for different reasons, but I hope anyone can help me how to solve this problem. In addition, they seems to be some serious misunderstandings about the use of word "image" in the title.--Kai3952 (talk) 18:26, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- The category gives no definition of "historical", so it's anyone's guess what does or does not belong in it. - Jmabel ! talk 21:25, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Jmabel: What I said was that we should not mistake the category for an image.--Kai3952 (talk) 09:05, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

How I can edit someone's article if I get his/her news link ??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Souravisonline (talk • contribs) 09:42, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Souravisonline: It is hard to tell what you are asking here. This is Wikimedia Commons; we don't have articles, so you might be on the wrong site. Also I have no idea what you mean by "if I get his/her news link". If you could be a lot more specific about what you are trying to do (what article are you trying to edit (please link it)? What change exactly are you trying to make to it?) there is a lot better chance someone can answer you. - Jmabel ! talk 16:15, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

Why I am blocked from updating a picture
The picture is https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Alexander_Memorial_Baptist_Church_-_Parish_Hall.JPG
Since this is showing a 19th century residence, and almost no one is interested in the church's 21st century parish hall (there is no article on the church), I want to replace it with a cleaned up version of this image: https://archive.org/details/anastronomerswi00hallgoog/page/n110/mode/2up
which shows the house as it was in the later 19th century, when the couple lived there. It also has the lady of the house (w:Angeline Stickney) on the steps and two black servants at work. Yet I am blocked from replacing it. I don't want to start a new image and have to replace it manually everywhere the old image is used. Thank you. Deisenbe (talk) 09:51, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Deisenbe: You haven't really given enough details of the problem for me to work out what went wrong, but happily that doesn't really matter. If you want to change which picture is used on, for instance en:Asaph Hall, you should do that by uploading the picture you want to use with a new name and then editing the page on Wikipedia. Commons tries to avoid imposing its editorial will on other projects, and part of that is our policy on overwriting files. That policy says that files should only be overwritten if the new version is a minor, uncontroversial improvement on the old one. Overwriting File:Alexander Memorial Baptist Church - Parish Hall.JPG with a 19th-century picture would be neither. There are only ten uses of the file, so even replacing all of them should take less time than it's taken me to write this. --bjh21 (talk) 11:04, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

A screenshot of my company's software
Hey! I am working to create a page on my company's software. You may see my COI declaration on my user page. A draft of the page may be found in my sandbox. I have been given permission from my company to upload a screenshot from the software, but I am not sure how to get it in. I have been told that it is OK to license the image. It may also be possible to use a fair use rational, as the image will serve a teaching purpose. Sam at Megaputer (talk) 13:19, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Sam at Megaputer: Either your company can post the page somewhere on its own website and indicate the license there (easiest, if possible; it doesn't have to be a page that is navigable from anywhere else, and you can use "norobots" so Google etc. won't index it) or you can go through the process described at COM:OTRS. - Jmabel ! talk 16:20, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Jmabel: Thanks for the help! I followed your advice and got an image up. If it's not too much trouble, I just have one more question. I want to upload a second image to represent the software in the infobox, but the company would rather not license it. We might also use this similar image, but it is non-preferred because it is less detailed. I'm not sure if the company would let the second image be used under a license, but the answer is probably yes. I'm a bit fuzzy on fair use policy. Do we have any hope of getting the preferred image into the infobox without giving up the copyright? And if not, what about the non-preferred image? Thanks again for all your help. Sam at Megaputer (talk) 18:49, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Sam at Megaputer: Hi, and welcome. If you want to upload high resolution logos here on Wikimedia Commons, please see Commons:Licensing for why we can't accept logos of others, and have the logo designer(s) or authorized company representatives post Commons:Licensing compliant permission for such work on their website or social media presence or send the image and permission via OTRS with a carbon copy to you. Low resolution logos on English Wikipedia are uploaded there for Fair Use subject to en:WP:F. We do not accept Fair Use files here on Wikimedia Commons. en:Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard gives four options for uploading directly on that project: Click here to start the Upload Wizard on top in the middle; Files for upload process; Plain form for local uploads; and Old guided form (the latter three in the right column under "Wikipedia"). — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 01:24, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Sam at Megaputer: What you did at File:Convolutional-neural-network-polyanalyst-flowchart-example.png is OK, though it could certainly use more categories, and this sort of image is better presented as an SVG.
- Your company should consider that licensing the copyright of an image they can still enforce trademark (we have a tag for that, {{Trademark}}. Frankly, the logo is not original enough that I could actually imagine a copyright claim holding up in court, though a trademark claim presumably would. - Jmabel ! talk 16:38, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback! I have a friend who knows some things about trademark law (she took a class on it). I'll get some more info on that from her. I'll also to go back and improve my last upload. I can tell there's lots to learn here. Sam at Megaputer (talk) 16:47, 30 September 2020 (UTC)

Copyright help regarding File:Gazivodasee Karte.svg
Hallo,

uploading a text of unknown origin
I have a text, "The Hymn of the Hampshire countryside" that does not appear on the Internet other than where I recently uploaded it to our church website in response to an enquiry. The text is of unknown origin and I can find no reference online to even the title of the text. I want to make it more readily available but the rules for uploading a text don't appear to cover this situation. I don't own copyright and there's no way of finding out who was the author - we've used the text in church for at least seventy years. The text is not published in any known hymn book, only in locally-produce handout form. I believe it should be public domain and that an author - if one were able to track him or her down - would expect this. - There does not appear to be a page en:Richard Jewell Durrell, en:Richard Durrell, or en:Richard J. Durrell, so first you would have to create such a page and have it accepted (assuming that by "Wikiepdia page" you meant a page on the English-language Wikipedia).
- I'm guessing that you do not own the copyright of that photo, so to upload it on Commons you would need to find out who owns the copyright and get them to free-license it. Frankly, you are very unlikely to succeed in doing that.
- Once an article is on the English-language Wikipedia, you could follow the policy laid out at en:Wikipedia:Non-free content and upload the file to the English-language Wikipedia. This would not involve Commons. - Jmabel ! talk 00:35, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

I have a picture taken at a qualifying monument. It has a child in it. Figures prominently in the picture, but from the back so cannot be identified. It was during a historic re-enactment which the child was a costumed participant. Again. Photographed from the back. Cannot be identified. I have never done this before, decided to clear out my folders during this month's contest. But every step has been a challenge. For example, the username "No Usernames Available" was unavailable, as well as 1,209 other usernames I tried. Looks like I can attach it here for comment maybe.
Well, I think I inserted it, but I can't see it. So I have no idea if anyone else can see it to answer my question.
Maybe I already asked this. I am trying to find out about releases when people are in a picture. Is a release needed if the person is photographed from the back and not identifiable? I have found nothing on the questions of releases for pictures of people. At all.
Also, I have no idea how to find my way back to see if anybody has answered any questions that I have asked. You don't make this easy! I read dozens of pages that have nothing to do with what I want to know. Search doesn't turn up anything useful. FAQ doesn't have anything relevant either. So I guess I'll keep asking questions, but never find out if there are answers. You do not make this easy.

- As for permissions, this is one of those cases where the COM:OTRS process, though cumbersome, may be the clearest way to do this. The other possibility would be to indicate the license for the image in the PDF & update that online at www.zinc8energy.com, but it still wouldn't necessarily clarify that the image is original to your company.
- Other information that should be provided:
- An actual description in the "description" field. Repeating the title is not a description.
- Relevant categories
- Further discussion should probably be at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Zinc8 schematic.png. I've linked the above exchange there. - Jmabel ! talk 00:43, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
Why does text in SVG files get messed up?
One frustrating hour ago, I uploaded File:Map of Pashto-speaking areas in Afghanistan and Pakistan.svg. It looks alright in my browser, as well as the one other program I checked. However, when I upload it here, the automatically generated raster image (which I take will be the one actually displayed in articles where this image will be used), is messed up: look at the text at the bottom. Now, a contributing factor is that the GIS software I used has the annoying habit of exporting text as a series of separate objects, one for each letter. But that gets displayed alright everywhere else but on Commons. Here, the rendering engine apparently decides to ignore the coordinates of those objects and instead bunch them all one on top of the other. Why is this happening, and is there a work-around? I remember something similar happening the last time I had the foolishness to upload a map here (was it last year?) and the tricks I thought had worked then, now didn't. Why is this happening, and is there any work-around? Uanfala (talk) 01:30, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

- Quite simply, you cannot upload that file here. It is owned by the studio or network. They have not released it under an open license. DMacks (talk) 11:47, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

Question from Largely Forgotten
Yesterday, I uploaded some pictures. I never did this before, so it took awhile to sort it out. But I did get it to work. It took many, many tries to find a username not already taken. They say "Read the FAQ, but I have a well-developed ability to get questions which are NOT frequently asked, I guess." Run into malfunctions that are not covered. Some such.
The last batch of pix I tried, last night, didn't work. I went through all the steps - several times - and when I clicked "publish files" nothing happened. Rebooted a couple times, even. Gave up for the night.
This morning? Same thing. Except now the websites for National Register of Historic Properties is simply not working 404 error. Ditto on the National Park Service. There's other ways to get the numbers, and I've tried again today. But nothing. Same problem.
This particular location does not yet have its own wiki page. There is one other picture of the location up, so it shouldn't be impossible.
Link, I'm trying to do Willow Creek Park, the last one on the list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Register_of_Historic_Places_listings_in_Prowers_County,_Colorado
Here's one I did yesterday which came out OK, just to show I'm not 100% incompetent:
Anyhow, I'm posting a question. But I think I'm lost in a cave or a labyrinth. No one will notice and there will be no replies.
I have no idea what to do about this. I guess I'll try a different location which actually has a wiki page. Maybe that will help.
But WTF is up with NPS and National Historic sites being dead as a doornail?
Wish me luck. Tilting at windmills with no one to help. Sigh.
I guess I can try a different browser, too.
Sigh. It would be lovely to interact with someone who knows what's up, but apparently that's not an option. Or at least I have not found it.
Sigh.
I just posted a question. But I cannot find it. I see other people's questions, some with replies. I put mine up, I thought. But it has vanished.
I just wanted to post some pictures. Do I have to take a three-month course to figure the place out well enough to post some pictures of National Register of Historic Places for this month's contest? But the contest only lasts one month.
I guess this question will disappear, too, so I kind of wonder why I am bothering.
My username is "Largely Forgotten", which took a few hours until I could find which was not already taken. Maybe you reject questions without names. But if I'm logged it, wouldn't it show automatically that I posted it?
I post another question. It disappears. I have no idea how to get any answers.
Why do you make it so impenetrable? Do you really want me to post pictures, or do you only want to make me burn up a couple days of time with little but frustration as a result.
I tried clicking for "Live Chat" - that doesn't help either. It's a place where I can potentially get assistance in getting this place to work? But NO! I have to sign up for a totally different system and figure out how that works before I can expect any answers as to why I suddenly can't upload pictures any more, after successfully uploading a couple dozen? Then it quit? I can't find those pictures I uploaded either, so maybe they disappeared, too.
This photo contest is a wonderful way to waste time and get frustrated it is starting to look like. No I'm not going to create an account on a totally different unfamiliar system.
Very frustrating! Are you sure you are actually seeking picture uploads? Starting to wonder. You sure don't make it easy.
"Largely Forgotten", a screen name it took a long time to find. That's who is posting this.
How will I ever know if anyone ever replies? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Largely Forgotten (talk • contribs)
Is there actually any help? I have posted many questions. I do not even know where they went. How could I find any answers if I do not know where the questions go?
I only signed up yesterday. To upload photos for the contest. Worked OK for awhile. Now won't work. Many hours wasted trying to figure out what's wrong. No idea how to get answers.
I even tried the livechat but it called me a spammer within seconds of trying to post something. Under a username I never heard of. Dead end.
This shouldn't be so hard, people. Room for improvement.

Did I do this mass deletion request correctly?

Nothing will upload for the picture contest, dagnabbit!
I posted before. I don't know where the questions go, or how to know if I get any replies or suggestions. But I cannot get pictures to upload for this month's photo contest.
Mind you, I successfully put up about 40 yesterday, and then it quit. Maybe it's just the upload wizard? I put up about 40 pictures yesterday. But the Upload Wizard goes through everything, then "Publish Files" doesn't work. No error message, no nothing. As if I never clicked on anything.
After posted questions, and then not knowing where they went, I tried the live chat. I learned that the uploads, because they include the NRHP #, also do an interaction with the National Register of Historic Places website. That website has been down this morning. I found other places to locate the right number for the uploads. But maybe that's not enough.
The nice person on the chat tried to help, but it's possible the problem is with NRHP, not fixable from this end. Tried all kinds of reboots, clearing cache, more than one browser. At one point, I was able to upload one picture during that chat, which was nice. Not exactly a fix, but one at a time is something. I said "thanks!" and went on my way. But now I cannot even get a single picture to upload, nevermind the multiples.
Is anybody else having this problem? Does anybody ever read these questions? Are there ever any responses? Am I wasting my time? Yesterday, I uploaded most of the pictures on this page:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2020_in_Colorado
Today? Except for a couple I got up one at a time, nothing. Am I the only one experiencing this? Has anybody else noticed it? Is anybody even posting pictures now? Kinda has a negative impact on the contest, eh?

- @Largely Forgotten: Hi, and welcome. I see 47 images in Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in Colorado. I see you uploaded 4 today and more yesterday, listed in Special:ListFiles/Largely Forgotten (your files) and your upload log. Thank you for uploading them. As a brand-new user of Commons with 28 hours and 59 edits under your belt, you may be hitting some uploading rate limits until your account is autoconfirmed 4 days after you registered. Those limits are designed to cap cleanup efforts for brand-new users, I'm sorry if they impacted you. Please don't gloss over any upload errors you receive, they are important indicators. Jeff G. had no right to delete public domain pictures, especially in the dark of night with zero discussion
This is a LOUSY WAY TO THREAT A NEW USER I got an account the day before yesterday. My specific purpose was to post pictures for the Historic Places contest. I wake up this morning to find someone marked some for deletion. I can't figure out how to comment or discuss, being brand new. I wanted to discuss the matter. But Jeff G. moves quickly, and my pictures were already deleted. Within hours, while I was sleeping. I did not get a chance to defend my work. I could not figure out how to respond when the email said to go there to "discuss." Link: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Largely_Forgotten I didn't know how to comment there, so I thought I'd comment on the picture directly, to explain why Jeff. G. was DEAD WRONG about the copyright. So I went to the page with my uploads, to find the pictures and put an explanation there. THESE WORKS OF ART ARE PUBLIC DOMAIN The Post Office Murals are found all over the country. They were placed in newly built post offices, and already existing post offices. The work was paid for by taxpayer monies and were public domain from the first day they were created. The objection that the artist only died in 1962 is simply wrong. And I have been treated poorly that they were removed without even having a chance to discuss it. I don't know how to comment on the notice that was sent to me by an algorithm. And I don't know any way to to send a message to Jeff G. who played executioner without so much as a single appeal. Jeff G., why don't you come out of the shadows and defend yourself for killing my photos of public domain artwork. Created by government jobs program during the Great Depression. Jeff G., you are ignorant on this point. I do not appreciate my work being vanquished during the dark of night. Jeff G., I do not appreciate not having a chance to defend myself. Jeff G., you were DEAD WRONG to delete pictures that are in the public domain. Jeff G., how about having the decency to have a little discussion about this before you eliminated my contributions. Jeff G., it's a lousy way to treat anyone. Inexcusable with a brand new user. Jeff G., just because I am a new user, it does not mean you know better than me. Jeff G., I could call you out in big letters right here if I knew how. Jeff G., you owe me an apology and those pictures should be undeleted.
