Hello! I'm For Each element In group ... Next, but you can also call me For Each ... Next, or Lopullinen, my former username. While my username pays homage to Visual Basic, I am a fan of Python. I use Pywikibot for various maintenance tasks and consider Python the most elegant language in the world.

I've been passionate about video gaming for over a decade, but more recently, I have developed an interest in linguistics and literature, which I am currently studying as my undergraduate major.

Reflections on editing

I'm an editor on the Chinese Wikipedia. While I have been involved in various aspects, I now mostly focus on semi-automated maintenance tasks. I believe that writing articles—rather than the other stuff—is the primary responsibility of a Wikipedian. However, I must admit that I contribute little in this scope. When it comes to article writing, I often translate articles from the English Wikipedia rather than write them from the scratch. Partly due to my long-standing habit of translating, I often get stuck when trying to write an article on the Chinese Wikipedia. The funniest thing you might see is that I first write the English version and then translate it back into Chinese myself.

On the Chinese Wikipedia, an article review is essentially a poll, where voters usually give a simple glance at the article's shape and the identification of the editor. While few editors may offer suggestions, these tend to be minor, such as recommending the addition of language labels to references, rather than providing a thorough, systematic review. In such a community, I often feel helpless when it comes to making improvements to articles. The most disheartening aspect, however, is the cycle where long-term participants lack the ability (or, if they have the ability, the willingness) to mentor newcomers, and these newcomers have no clear path to becoming respected editors who could, in turn, guide the next generation.

I'm inspired by the collaborative atmosphere among English Wikipedia contributors, who write essays on how to improve articles and work together to refine even the smallest details. This is why I am glad to write articles on the English Wikipedia, where editors genuinely respect quality and foster mutual growth through teaching and learning. My goal is to write truly high-quality articles, and I am enhancing my English writting skills for this purpose. For now, however, my aim is to bring articles to B-class.
