Zed is a free and open-source text and source-code editor for Linux and macOS with support for extensions, and embedded version control with Git. Developed by Zed Industries, the people behind Atom.
Features include support for syntax highlighting, Language Server Protocol (LSP), and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
History
[edit]After Atom was discontinued in 2022, three key contributors created Zed, announcing it in 2023. In 2024 the project was open-sourced.
