article about me

[edit]

I was featured in a 2019 NY Times article about the Google Glass, there is not gonna be an article, that could stay with the Google Glass article Esaïe Prickett (talk) 04:00, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Given the comments made in episode 1967 of the Effectively Wild podcast (section starts at about 1:50:00) that appear to confirm crewchief22 (talk · contribs) as being former MLB umpire Joe West, should we be considering him for inclusion on this list, or should we decline to include such individuals whose edits in mainspace are exclusively in areas with which they have a conflict of interest, such as their own article? 'GQ: Actually Me' series

[edit]

List items such as 'Cole Sprouse - ActuallyColeSprouse', 'Alex HonnoldActuallyAlexHonnold' and 'ZendayaActuallyZendaya96' might need to be swiftly removed from this list, with a note to exclude them entirely. If you watch the videos from the series, the "edits" are clearly done in post-production. The "edits" are direct transcripts of their speech with the same grammatical style for everything that's published in the series (it seems unlikely that every participant would have the same grammatical style). It is clear that they are not actually editing the articles themselves. Furthermore, ActuallyColeSprouse and ActuallyZendaya96 haven't even published edits, as the articles are protected. I can't find any specific policy, but the inclusion seems to go against the spirit of why this list exists. As they are single use accounts, the edits are likely done in post-production. So a policy-based argument for their exclusion closely aligns with WP:PAID as the edits are most likely as a result of an undisclosed payment (the paycheck of the post-production staff). Limit inclusion based on edits

[edit]

I propose that this list should be limited to notable people (people with an article) who have made at least ten edits to mainspace, not counting edits to their own article. SmokeyJoe (talk) 05:04, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. That's reasonable and will somewhat decruft the list simultaneously culling at least a fraction of the entries with potential concerns attached.—Alalch E. 20:25, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • I support this. A few times in the past I've gone looking for information about Wikipedians who are notable, and been hamstrung by this list's inclusion of a lot of people who may technically have accounts but are not meaningfully part of this community, and for that matter often don't have any verification as being who they say they are. My only suggested tweak is the slightly simpler, slightly broader "at least ten non-COI edits to mainspace". -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 02:15, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
