Hi, can anyone give an eye to Apolas Lermi? I stumbled across this article because Lermi himself, or an editor using his name, replaced the existing article with unreferenced text, which I and another editor have reverted. The existing article was poorly-referenced to YouTube. I have added what I can, but am hampered by lack of knowledge. Can anyone improve the article? And could someone check the machine-translated quotation I have included? Thanks for any help. Tacyarg (talk) 06:46, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello. Project members are invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It will be held from Monday June 16 - Sunday July 13. There is $3338 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning some vouchers to help you buy books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for your project, sign up if interested.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:31, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
drafts in Category:Draft-Class Turkey pages
[edit]There are several drafts in Category:Draft-Class Turkey pages that have been declined but that you might be able to improve to the point where they could be accepted. Some may have been abandoned by the editor who created them. Eastmain (talk • contribs) 13:49, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
The DCWC is back!
[edit]
WikiProject Turkey, the Developing Countries WikiContest will be returning for a second year, and sign-ups are now open! The contest will run from 1 July to 30 September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia.
In other news, we have a new face on the coordinator team this year: last year's sixth-place finisher, Arconning (talk · contribs)! The coordinators would like to extend a sincere thanks to Ixtal (talk · contribs), who is leaving the team, without whom the contest would not exist. After feedback from contestants last year, the scoring rules are undergoing some modifications; the new rules and a summary of the changes made will be posted to the contest talk page shortly.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page, use the {{@DCWC coordinators}} template, or contact one of the coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). Help in identifying languages
[edit]
Hello!
I'm trying to identify the languages on the banner to the right, with YAŞASIN 1 MAYIS (Long live 1 May) written in 5 languages. If I'm not mistaken the translations are the following:
- YAŞASIN 1 MAYIS (Turkish)
- BIJÎ 1 GULAN (Kurmanji? Kurdish)
- Орэпсэу 1 жъоныгьoklam (Adyghe?)
- Skidas 1 Mayisi (?)
- Կեցցե՛ 1 մայիս (Armenian)
Can you recognize/confirm the language of the translations? Place Clichy (talk) 01:02, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
Need a Turkish equivalent of Wildfires in Turkey I think
[edit]tr:2021 Türkiye orman yangınları has a redlink to tr:Türkiye'de orman yangınları if a native speaker would like to create it. This would save duplicating info from one year to next e.g. re causes Chidgk1 (talk) 17:18, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

I recently wrote an article about Mustafa, Pasha of Rhodes, an Ottoman official who was involved in the Lupa slave revolt in 1748 and another slave revolt plot on Malta in 1749. The articles about Mustafa, the two revolts, and Mustafa's former slave Cara Mehmed are now quite detailed, but an issue which must be noted is that practically all the sources I used are from the Hospitaller/Maltese/Christian perspective, and there are none from the Turkish/Muslim perspective (admittedly I did find one Turkish-language source but even that seems to be largely based on Christian sources).
I am writing here just in case someone well-versed in 18th-century Ottoman history happens to know of any sources about the people and events above from the Turkish perspective. I understand that it's unlikely that there are many sources about the 1748 and 1749 revolts, but surely there must be some sources about Mustafa himself? He was a governor of Rhodes and the Dodecanese for five years from ca. 1743–1748, he apparently had a career in the Ottoman navy, and if any of the unverified claims from European sources hold any weight, he might have been involved in high-level politicking in Constantinople during the early 1750s.
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone familiar with the above can add details from Turkish sources to the above articles, or if you could point me to the right direction regarding appropriate sources. Thanks in advance!
