Wikipedia talk:Requests for comment/userfication
Templates
[edit](Moved from the main page to reduce clutter, being a subsidiary issue.)
Proposal to merge a number of templates related to WP:userfication. Rd232 talk 15:10, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Userpage tags
[edit]Proposal: merge all tags into {{Userspace draft}}, appropriately amended to ensure the Article Wizard categories are only applied when a parameter is set. Reason: "userspace draft" (cf Help:userspace draft) is clear in meaning and purpose, and should be the preferred terminology. Rd232 talk 15:20, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
NB All tags apply {{noindex}}.
- {{Userspace draft}}: "This page is a user's work in progress page, not an article, and may be incomplete and/or unreliable. For guidance on developing this draft, see Wikipedia:So you made a userspace draft." Uses dated maintenance categories which refer to the Article Wizard. Created Sep 2009. Help:Userspace draft uses it too.
- {{Userfiedpage}}: "This is an article that has been moved to a user page in a process called userfication. It is not an archive, but represents an ongoing attempt to resolve issues with the original article. For guidance on developing this draft, see Wikipedia:So you made a userspace draft." Created Feb 2009.
- {{Userf}}:
"This is an article that has been moved to a user page in a process called userfication. It is not an archive, but represents an ongoing attempt to resolve issues with the original article. Please refer to the userfication guidelines for more information."Created Sep 2009, redirected to {{Userfiedpage}} Nov 2009.
- {{Userf}}:
- {{UserWorkInProgress}}: "This page is a user's work in progress page, not an article, and may be incomplete and/or unreliable. The current/final version of this article is, or will be, located at [[{{{1}}}]]." Created March 2006.
User notices
[edit]Proposal: merge these three to two: one to notify of userfication to userpage, one of userfication to user subpage. (The latter might have variants for different userfication reasons.) Rd232 talk 15:22, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- {{Userfied}} - notice that a vanity article has been userfied to a user's userpage. Created 2005.
- {{Userfied2}} - notice that an article with problems has been userfied to a user's userspace. Non-standard format. Created March 2008.
- {{Userfied-nn}}: Created in 2006, redirected to {{userfied2}} in July 2008 per TFD discussion.
- {{Nn-userfy}}: - notice that a vanity article has been userfied to a user's userspace. Created Jan 2006.
- {{Incu-notify-del}} - notice that article has been incubated instead of deleted.
User warnings/suggestions
[edit]- {{Userfy warning}} - warning that vanity articles don't belong in mainspace, but a suitable version might be a userpage. Created March 2006.
- {{Userfy}}: Originally focussed on notability issues, was created in 2005, redirected to {{notability}} in March 2007 as "barely in use" and now redirected to {{userfy warning}}.
- {{Userify}}: Occasional misspelling, redirects to {{Userfy warning}}.
- {{userspace draft suggestion}} - suggestion to create a userspace draft to avoid risk of speedy deletion
- {{uw-draftfirst}}: redirect to {{userspace draft suggestion}}, used by Twinkle's "Single-issue notices" menu, and listed at WP:UTM.
- {{Incubate from userfied}} - proposes incubation
Discussion
[edit]- retain "userifiedpage". It makes a considerable difference whether this is a draft started in userspace, or one that has been moved there. The second of the two is far more likely to pose a problem. DGG ( talk ) 03:25, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
- What difference does it make? And why is it more likely to cause a problem? And why does it need a separate template? Rd232 talk 11:14, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
- I can kind of picture it being in there if I squint my eyes a bit and I like the generics of those templates. Could I highly suggest adding an making the warnings say something incredibly obvious on the menu like "AGF New Page", and even though this would probably be frowned upon, putting it on the TW and HG csd selection tags would be the only way most people would remember it. Incubate or newpage tag, and a ridiculously polite welcome message? {{Incu-notify-del}} looks great! Can we get a smiley face added or something? (ok, maybe over-the-top) ♪ daTheisen(talk) 05:21, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
