Closure

Some say that this RFA cannot be closed of WP:NOTNOW because of the high edit count of the user. I don't hold this view, but if that's the case, then I close this under IAR. This RFA is clearly devolving into division and incivility from multiple parties, and per the fact that "creating and spreading drama disrupts and harms Wikipedia" (cited from WP:DRAMA), it must be stopped. bibliomaniac 1 5 18:52, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose that raises an interesting technical question... Can an editor's RfA close early if they don't want it to? Previous discussion on WT:RFA suggests that they should be allowed to run their full course. I don't really care to see something with an obvious conclusion drag on for too long, but other than extenuating circumstances (editor banned during the RfA process for example) I thought that we let them continue. Agreed. Crats are the "guardians" of RFA, it's their "job" to make such decisions. Biblio is correct, this was a clear example of an RFA where WP:SNOW applies. The candidate's wish cannot change this. Regards So Why 19:07, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
